  • A gender-specific HIV/STD risk reduction intervention for women in a health care setting

    Anke Α Ehrhardt, A A Ehrhardt et al.•ARTICLE•AIDS Care•2002

This study assessed the short- and long-term effect of a gender-specific group intervention for women on unsafe sexual encounters and strategies for protection against HIV/STD infection. Family planning clients (N = 360) from a high HIV seroprevalence area in New York City were randomized to an eight-session, a four-session or a control condition and followed at one, six and 12 months post-intervention. Using an intention-to-treat analysis, women…

  • Archaeological excavation of a medieval structure and an assemblage of prehistoric artefacts from the summit of Traprain Law, East Lothian, 1996 - 1997

THOMAS REES, Fraser Hunter et al.•ARTICLE•Proceedings of the Society of…•2002

Investigations on the summit of Traprain Law, East Lothian, recorded and partly excavated approximately 300 sq m of fire-damaged ground immediately south of the summit 'pond'. The majority of the area excavated, roughly 240 sq m, proved either to be outcropping bedrock or shallow sandy loam soils overlying bedrock. These soils contained a range of early and later prehistoric artefacts. The remaining area excavated, roughly 60 sq m, contained a st…

Grave goods included food vessels and a unique cannel coal and lead necklace. Where skeletal remains survived, most of the deceased were sub-adult or young adults. Evidence of floral tributes was found in three burials. A number of other features, one containing Beaker…

  • A gender-specific intervention for at-risk women in the USA

    J Miller, S Miller et al.•ARTICLE•AIDS Care•2000

Women are the fastest growing group in the USA to become infected with HIV. Also, the mode of transmission is changing with heterosexual behaviour being the predominant source. As these changes occur, HIV infection becomes more common in women who have not typically been considered at high risk. This paper describes an intervention designed to decrease unsafe sexual encounters and to focus on a highly meaningful concern in the lives of these wome…

  • Edin's Hall fort, broch and settlement, Berwickshire (Scottish Borders)

Andrew Dunwell, Mike Cressey et al.•ARTICLE•Proceedings of the Society of…•2000•Cited by: 1

A survey and excavations were undertaken in 1996 at Edin's Hall fort, broch and settlement — a monument in the care of Historic Scotland — in response to evidence of rabbit damage to the earthworks. The work has shown that the evolution of the site is considerably more complex than had been recognized hitherto. The broch may have been constructed during the lifetime of the settlement. The status and wealth of the site are discussed, and considere…

    Mary J Rotheram-Borus, S Miller•ARTICLE•AIDS Care•1998

This article describes an intervention programme for youths living with HIV, delivered over 30 sessions, in three modules. Based on modifications of the s…
