  • Conventional Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Versus Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation-Assisted CPR in Children

Open Access•Adrian Mattke, Eugene Slaughter et al.•ARTICLE•Children•2025

Our study demonstrates that pre-CPR-event lactate concentrations and duration of arrest should alert clinicians to a high likelihood of needing ECPR, while a preceding respiratory arrest may indicate a low likelihood. Mortality post CCPR is significant, mainly due to overall illness severity rather than the consequences of the CPR event

  • Exploring the relationships between pathogen‐specific prenatal infections requiring inpatient admission and domains of offspring behaviour at age 5

Open Access•Kim Betts, Kim Steven Betts et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Child Psychology and…•2024

BACKGROUND: Research exploring the relationship between prenatal infection and child behavioural outcomes would benefit from further studies utilising full-population samples with the scale to investigate specific infections and to employ robust designs. We tested the association among several common infections requiring inpatient admission during and after pregnancy with a range of childhood behavioural outcomes, to determine whether any negativ…

  • Hyperlactataemia Following Crystalloid Cardiopulmonary Bypass Priming in Paediatric Cardiac Surgery—Benign or Malignant? A Retrospective Study

Open Access•Philippa Jane Temple Bowers, Michael Daley et al.•ARTICLE•Children•2024

In this study population, transient postoperative hyperlactataemia in paediatric patients with crystalloid prime may not necessarily indicate tissue hypoxaemia. Despite a similar duration of ventilation in patients with and without hyperlactataemia, patients with hyperlactataemia had a longer duration of inotropes and ICU stay. Consideration should be given to discontinuing inotropes in patients with crystalloid prime and postoperative early hype…

  • Patterns of Mental Health Service Utilisation

Open Access•Crystal Lee, Crystal Man Ying Lee et al.•ARTICLE•Community Mental Health Journal•2024•References: 12

A cross-sectoral partnership was formed in 2021 in support of the recommendations in an audit on access to state-funded mental health services. In this first paper, we aimed to describe the demographic and service utilisation of adults with a mental health diagnosis in the Western Australian state-funded health system from 2005 to 2021. Inpatient, emergency department, specialised (ambulatory) community mental health service, and death records we…
