Errors in Specialized Translation Training: A Corpus-Based Study on the Sight Translation of a Popular Science Article
In recent years, sight translation (SiT), the oral translation of a written text, has received little attention in the sphere of translator training. Rather, this practice has been almost exclusively studied within the framework of interpreting. Yet, based on the examination of the master’s programs in translation (Giancola, 2022) recognized by the European Master’s in Translation (EMT) (European Commission, 2022c), SiT is used, although rarely, …
Lives of a Mentally Retarded: A Forty-Year Follow-up Study
Home environment and development of slow-learning adolescents: Reciprocal relations
The family as affected by schooling for severely retarded children: An invitation to research
The implementation of Public Law 94–142, The Education for All Handicapped Children Act of 1975, promises massive impact on the dynamics of families that have a severely impaired child. These children had previously been denied access to school and were at great risk for placement outside the natural home. The new law provides an individualized program for all these children, doorstop busing, and necessary auxiliary services—all at no cost to the…
Relationship Between Performance on a Piagetian Liquid Conservation Task and Reading Achievement in Seven Year Old Children
The relationship of a Piagetian measure of liquid conservation in children with reading ability was obtained to determine the predictive ability of such a task. A six-step conservation-of-fluid task, yielding a score of 0-6, was individually administered to 52 middle-class white children of CA 73-87 months. Reading was assessed 8 weeks later with the Stanford Achievement Test, Reading. A non-significant r of .13 was obtained. Mean reading scores …
New Methods for Test Selection and Reliability Assessment Using Stepwise Multiple Regression and Jackknifing
Conservation of Fluid Predicted From Structure of Intellect and Conceptual Style
In a translation of Piaget's developmental psychology into psychometric and structure of intellect terms, 133 children of CA 69-87 mos., equally divided by sex, were individually given a six-step conservation of fluid series, scored in points, with 18 psychometric tests and 3 conceptual style tasks. Zero order correlation and stepwise multiple regression analyses were used to determine best predictors of conservation: tests having picture-semanti…

Structure-of-Intellect Measures and Other Tests as Predictors of Success in Tenth-Grade Modern Geometry
What the Itpa Measures: A Synthesis of Factor Studies of the 1961 Edition
Comparative structure of intellect in middle- and lower-class four-year-olds of two ethnic groups
A methodological report on household psychometric screening for retardation
Prediction of Fifth Grade Achievement from Kindergarten Test and Rating Data
An Exploration of Six Semantic Factors At First Grade
Six hypotheses in the semantic domain were developed for six-year-old children and implemented with a 23-test battery, which was administered to 100 Ss, IQ 60 to 154. Principal component factors were rotated by varimax, graphic, biquartimin and Procrustes processes, yielding essentially similar structure; interpretation was based on the graphic. Divergent semantic units (DMU) and systems (DMS) emerged clearly from other factors and each other, de…
