  • Theoretical Background of Occupational-Exposure Models—Report of an Expert Workshop of the Ises Europe Working Group “Exposure Models”

Open Access•Urs Schlüter, Susan Arnold et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2022

On 20 October 2020, the Working Group "Exposure Models" of the Europe Regional Chapter of the International Society of Exposure Science (ISES Europe) organised an online workshop to discuss the theoretical background of models for the assessment of occupational exposure to chemicals. In this report, participants of the workshop with an active role before and during the workshop summarise the most relevant discussion points and conclusions of this…

  • Historical Asbestos Measurements in Denmark—A National Database

Open Access•Ana Sofia Fonseca, Amalie Kofoed Jørgensen et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2022

Despite limitations in coverage of different occupations and tasks associated with the inventoried historical asbestos measurements, the data are helpful to identify specific work scenarios within an industry, where relatively high asbestos exposure levels may still occur or have occurred from 1971 to 1997

  • Occupational Exposure and Environmental Release

Open Access•Ana Sofia Fonseca, Anna‐Kaisa Viitanen et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2021

Pulmonary exposure to micro- and nanoscaled particles has been widely linked to adverse health effects and high concentrations of respirable particles are expected to occur within and around many industrial settings. In this study, a field-measurement campaign was performed at an industrial manufacturer, during the production of paints. Spatial and personal measurements were conducted and results were used to estimate the mass flows in the facili…

  • Nanoparticle Exposure and Workplace Measurements During Processes Related to 3D Printing of a Metal Object

    Open Access•ACØ Jensen, Alexander C Ø Jensen et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Public Health•2020

Metal 3D printing has many potential uses within prototyping and manufacturing. Selective laser melting (SLM) is a process that uses metal powders in the micrometer range as printing material. The particle release from the entire SLM printing process is not well-studied. While the 3D printing itself often occurs in a sealed chamber, activities related to the process can potentially release harmful metal particles to the indoor working environment…

  • Exposure Models for Reach and Occupational Safety and Health Regulations

Open Access•John W Cherrie, Wouter Fransman et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2020

Model tools for estimating hazardous substance exposure are an accepted part of regulatory risk assessments in Europe, and models underpin control banding tools used to help manage chemicals in workplaces. Of necessity the models are simplified abstractions of real-life working situations that aim to capture the essence of the scenario to give estimates of actual exposures with an appropriate margin of safety. The basis for existing inhalation ex…

  • Military Defence in Denmark

Open Access•Hakan Wiberg, Keld Alstrup Jensen et al.•ARTICLE•Cooperation and Conflict•1992•Cited by: 1•References: 4

Denmark was heavily militarized until the Napoleonic wars. After heavy territorial losses to Sweden in 1814 and to Prussia in 1864, it concluded that only the Copenhagen area could be defended and spent much on fortifications there before World War I. The interwar period combined isolated neutrality with a low Danish military profile (about 1% of GNP); after the German occupation during World War II it joined NATO and rearmed. Its arms expenditur…
