This article explores the theological thinking of writer-farmer-thinker Wendell Berry and aligns his fiction with the criticism of institutional religion revealed in his essays. With an ecologist’s sense of interdependence and interconnectedness, Berry’s criticism is based on what can be described as a theology of membership.
