Narratives of Doubly Marginalized Women
Proposing the concept of “interstitial stigma” - a devalued status rooted in simultaneous rejection from the two societies to which persons with mixed affiliation or identity may belong – this article examines the narratives of Israeli Jewish women who migrated to their Arab/Palestinian intimate male partner’s home and community, in Israel or the Palestinian territories – two conflict zones. Reflecting on the stigmatization faced by women in mixe…

Patriarchy, political enmity, and domestic violence
Mixed couples face more marital conflict than endogamous couples. Drawing on intersectional theory and narrative victimology, this study examines women’s accounts of abuse in mixed heterosexual Arab/Palestinian–Israeli Jewish intimate partnerships amid the Israeli–Palestinian conflict. The narratives of 25 women formerly in an abusive relationship are the primary data, which are supplemented by a comprehensive list of calls seeking advice or inte…
Cyberaggression
The digital world has created new opportunities for aggression through cyberaggression. Despite growing research interest in cyberaggression, little is known about the various bystander roles in the digital interaction. This paper examines the effect of parental monitoring practices (parental restriction, youth disclosure, and parental solicitation) on five bystander roles: aggressor-supporter, defender, help-seeker, outsider, and passive bystand…

Furthermore, a comparative analysis of male Palestinian terrorist activity between the two Intifa…

Neo-Nazis and moral panic
The emergence of a neo-Nazi gang is an unprecedented manifestation of deviance in Israel. It has undermined the moral order and shaken the delicate nerves of Israeli society, which lives in the shadow of the Holocaust. Drawing principally on Israeli newspaper coverage, the study examines the dynamics of social discourse among policymakers, the press and pressure groups. The analysis shows that initial formulations of moral panic derived from a pr…
External and Internal Terror
Most studies dealing with the effects of security stress (e.g., stress caused by war or terrorist attacks) on crime rates have tended to focus on violent crime in general. This article adds to the existing literature by extending the focus to the effect of security and economic stressors during the Second Intifada in Israel on intimate femicide. In addition, the study investigates temporal patterns in the representation of intimate femicide rates…

The response in the form of an anti-satanic movement in Israel and its rhetorical narrative are compared with phenomena in other western countries. Analysis focuses on why Satanism has remained more on the level of emergence and awareness in the press, and has not resulted in any grassr…
