Spanish Literacy and the Academic Success of Latino High School Students: Codeswitching as a Classroom Resource 1
Bilingual Latino high school students who studied Spanish as an academic subject demonstrated a heightened awareness of how to use their two languages as complementary resources in school and professional settings. Interactive journals in bilingual classrooms: An analysis of language “transition”
Interactive student‐teacher journal entries of first‐, third‐, and fifth‐grade Spanish‐English bilingual classrooms were examined for an 8‐month period. The focus of the analysis was the “transition” of student writing from the native language to the second language in these entries.
