  • Development and validation of the Scale of Emotional Functioning

Open Access•Lezli Suzanne Anderson, R Steve McCallum et al.•ARTICLE•Psychology in the Schools•2023

Data collected from 97 educators provide preliminary support for the psychometric integrity of an experimental self‐report instrument designed to operationalize emotional intelligence (EI) specifically for educators, the Scale of Emotional Functioning: Educators, or SEF:ED. Data analyses relied in part on results from an exploratory factor analysis, which provided evidence for a three‐factor solution, and additional correlational analyses (e.g., …

  • Development and validation of an assessment of adult educators' reading instructional knowledge

Open Access•Sherry Mee Bell, R Steve McCallum et al.•ARTICLE•Annals of Dyslexia•2013

  • Three A's

    Open Access•Jeff L Cochran, R Steve McCallum et al.•ARTICLE•Foreign Language Annals•2010•Cited by: 11•References: 46

The researchers investigated attributions for success, attitudes, and aptitudes for native language learning and foreign language learning success for 648 students enrolled in 100‐level university foreign language courses (Spanish, French, and German). We examined relationships via correlational analyses and used structural equation modeling to determine the best predictive model. Relationships among variables were generally positive but low to m…

  • Effects of a Best Example and Critical Attributes on Prototype Formation in the Acquisition of a Concept

    C Warren Mckinney, Allison C Gilmore et al.•ARTICLE•Theory & Research in Social…•1987•References: 4

According to the traditional approach to concept formation, concepts are formed by learning a list of critical attributes. However, recent research indicates that students learn concepts by forming mental prototypes after being exposed to best examples. This study compared the effectiveness of the two approaches. One hundred and three undergraduates were randomly assigned to one of four treatment groups and taught the concept transfer propaganda.…

  • Local Norming and Validation of an Adaptive Behavior Screening Instrument

Open Access•R Steve McCallum, Herbert W Helm et al.•ARTICLE•Educational and Psychological…•1986

Local norming data from the Brief Index of Adaptive Behavior (BIAB) are presented (Study 1), as are construct and concurrent validity data (Studies 1, 2, and 3). Participants were 430 children, 330 of whom were randomly selected within certain strata from one southeastern state. Factor analytic results from Study I yielded an easily interpreted three-factor solution, which accounts for 52% of the variance and corresponds to the three domains from…
