  • Climate Action Through a Feminist Lens

Open Access•Vanessa Apaolaza, Patrick Hartmann et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Business Ethics•2026

This study examines how feminist identity (i.e., self-identification as a feminist) relates to climate action. Drawing on theories on consumer, business, and feminist ethics, environmental psychology, and identity-based behavior, we propose a theoretical model in which the effect of feminist identity on climate action is mediated by awareness of the gendered impacts of climate change, concern about climate change, and empathy with nature. An onli…

  • Perspectives

Open Access•Patrick Hartmann, Aitor Marcos et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2023

The advertising industry has a direct carbon footprint but also contributes to climate change by stimulating unsustainable economic growth, promoting climate-harmful consumerism, and greenwashing polluting products and companies. However, advertising can also play a pivotal role in fighting climate change. The advertising industry can reduce its carbon footprint, fight greenwashing, and cut ties with polluting clients and industries. Green advert…

Patrick Hartmann, Aitor Marcos et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2023

While the idea and terminology of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) stem from the 1950s and companies have been practicing CSR and advertising their engagement for some time, the advertising literature has had a late start to this topic. More recently, CSR has become prominent in both advertising practice and research. With a specific focus on the role of the International Journal of Advertising (IJA), this paper aims to provide a historical …

We study the combined effect of formal (FSK) and informal (ISK) sources of knowledge on European regional innovation performance. Our findings show that the effect of the two sources of knowledge on innovation performance is not simple and linear.
