  • Thinking individuation forward

    Open Access•David Tresan•ARTICLE•Journal of Analytical Psychology•2007•Cited by: 2•References: 6

This paper extends Jung's theory of individuation as faithfully elaborated by Joseph L. Henderson in his authoritative book Thresholds of Initiation. It addresses analyses that continue over very many years with analysands said to be individuated and proposes psychodynamics that explain and support such work that is otherwise beyond formal theoretical justification. In so doing, the paper addresses both Jung's and Henderson's refusal to explore t…

  • This new science of ours

    Open Access•David Tresan, David I Tresan•ARTICLE•Journal of Analytical Psychology•2004•Cited by: 4•References: 8

Part I of this paper having postulated the locus of consciousness as residing in a field between primitive mind in participation mystique with the world and a transcendent ground of being, Part II takes up the nature of mind itself in this field in terms of in vivo experiences. Operations and manifestations of consciousness are inexhaustively explored in four venues: 1) Jung's life experiences, 2) Joseph Henderson's theory of psychic development,…

  • Jungian metapsychology and neurobiological theory

    Open Access•David Tresan, David I Tresan•ARTICLE•Journal of Analytical Psychology•1996•Cited by: 18•References: 26

This paper deals with brain research and depth psychology. Because brain research is becoming significantly more sophisticated and increasingly able to assay the neurobiology of subjective (i.e. mental) events in vivo , it is suggested that any school of depth psychology will probably not survive as a mainstream treatment modality if its theory and practice is found to be in frank variance with the findings of the modern neurosciences. Jung's psy…
