  • MDMA-Assisted Therapy for Posttraumatic Stress Disorder: A Mixed-Methods Case Study of a Participant of Color From an Open-Label Trial

    Open Access•Terence H W Ching, M T Williams et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Humanistic Psychology•2024•References: 46

MDMA (±3,4-methylenedioxymethamphetamine)-assisted therapy (MDMA-AT) was shown in previous clinical trials to have promising efficacy and safety for alleviating treatment-resistant posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD). However, due to low ethnoracial diversity, the question remains as to whether ethnoracial minority participants would benefit similarly. Thus, a mixed-methods case study was conducted on a participant of color from an open-label tr…

  • Altered brain activity and functional connectivity after MDMA-assisted therapy for post-traumatic stress disorder

Open Access•S Parker Singleton, Julie B Wang et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Psychiatry•2023

    https://clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/show/NCT02102802, identifier NCT02102802

  • MDMA-assisted therapy for severe PTSD: A randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled phase 3 study

    Open Access•Jennifer M Mitchell, Michael P Bogenschutz et al.•ARTICLE•Nature Medicine•2021

Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) presents a major public health problem for which currently available treatments are modestly effective. We report the findings of a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, multi-site phase 3 clinical trial (NCT03537014) to test the efficacy and safety of 3,4-methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA)-assisted therapy for the treatment of patients with severe PTSD, including those with common comorbidities suc…

  • Scaling Up: Multisite Open-Label Clinical Trials of MDMA-Assisted Therapy for Severe Posttraumatic Stress Disorder

    Open Access•Julie B Wang, Jessica Lin et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Humanistic Psychology•2021•Cited by: 1•References: 29

Background: Posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is a debilitating mental health condition associated with serious adverse health outcomes and functional impairment. Previous MDMA–assisted therapy (MDMA-AT) studies have shown promising results in single site studies. Two open-label studies tested this modality in multisite clinical trials to assess the feasibility of scaling this manualized therapy across 14 North American sites. Method: Cotherap…

  • Medical Marijuana Legalization and Co-use in Adult Cigarette Smokers

Julie B Wang, Janine K Cataldo•ARTICLE•American Journal of Health Behavior•2016

These preliminary findings warrant further examination of the potential impact of long-term legalization of medical marijuana on greater cigarette and marijuana co-use in adults and higher nicotine dependence among co-users at the population level

  • E-cigarette Marketing and Older Smokers: Road to Renormalization

Janine K Cataldo, Anne Berit Petersen et al.•ARTICLE•American Journal of Health Behavior•2015

To stem the current epidemic of nicotine addiction, the FDA must take immediate action because e-cigarette advertising promotes dual use and may contribute to the renormalization of smoking

  • Quitting cigarettes completely or switching to smokeless tobacco: Do US data replicate the Swedish results

    S-H Zhu, Julie B Wang et al.•ARTICLE•Tobacco Control•2009

The Swedish results are not replicated in the United States. Both male and female US smokers appear to have higher quit rates for smoking than have their Swedish counterparts, despite greater use of smokeless tobacco in Sweden. Promoting smokeless tobacco for harm reduction in countries with ongoing tobacco control programmes may not result in any positive population effect on smoking cessation
