  • Stakeholder Experiences in Participatory Mental Health Model Development

  • System dynamics modelling methods for public health policy evaluation

    Open Access•H A Valkenburg, Hendrika J Valkenburg et al.•ARTICLE•BMC Public Health•2026

SD models are increasingly developed for NCDs and lifestyle-related risk factors, and particularly applied to mental health and substance use disorders. This review offers insights into applied techniques for developing SD models for mental health and substance use disorders, and shows that steps of the modelling cycle are reported on with considerable variation. Although studies frequently report on certain aspects of testing and validation, man…

  • Time space distribution of childhood leukaemia in the Netherlands

    H A van Steensel-Moll, H A Valkenburg et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Epidemiology and…•1983•References: 4

In the western part of the Netherlands during 1973-80 leukaemia was diagnosed in 293 patients aged under 15 years. An overall incidence rate of 2.91 per 100000 person years was calculated. No seasonal influence on months of birth or months of diagnosis of these patients could be traced by the method of Edwards. Time space clustering was looked for by both methods of Mantel and Knox. No significant time space clustering of date and place of diagno…

  • Increased blood pressure in schoolchildren related to high sodium levels in drinking water

    Albert Hofman, H A Valkenburg et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Epidemiology and…•1980•Cited by: 8•References: 5

The relationship between sodium in drinking water and blood pressure was examined in 348 schoolchildren aged 7.7 to 11.7 years. They were born and living in three areas with different levels of sodium in the public drinking water. Sodium content of the water was either long-term low, long-term high, or short-term high. The three communities are closely comparable according to demographic characteristics. The mean values of systolic and diastolic …
