  • Vitamin intake and its association with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) among Malaysian adults

Open Access•Zaleha Md Isa, Rosnah Ismail et al.•ARTICLE•BMC Public Health•2025

This study found an alarming deficiency of vitamins A, B6, B9, B12, C, E, and K in the dietary intake among the Malaysian adult population regardless of T2DM status. The dietary vitamin deficiency (vitamins B6, B9, B12, E, and K) was more susceptible among those with T2DM compared to non-T2DM. This study indicated that higher dietary vitamin intake (vitamins A, B6, B9, B12, C, E, and K) could benefit by reducing the prevalence of T2DM. Therefore,…

Open Access•Victoria Miller, Semir Yusuf et al.•ARTICLE•The Lancet Global Health•2016

BACKGROUND: Several international guidelines recommend the consumption of two servings of fruits and three servings of vegetables per day, but their intake is thought to be low worldwide. We aimed to determine the extent to which such low intake is related to availability and affordability. METHODS: We assessed fruit and vegetable consumption using data from country-specific, validated semi-quantitative food frequency questionnaires in the Prospe…
