  • Development and validation of the multi-dimensional health resilience scale for community-dwelling adults

Open Access•Lixia Ge, Wan Fen Yip et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Public Health•2025

Introduction: Resilience measures generally are not health specific, nor do they account for the multiple dimensions required for individuals to overcome health challenges. To bridge this gap, we developed and validated a multi-dimensional Health Resilience Scale (HRS) for community-dwelling adults in Singapore. Methods: We followed standard procedures to develop health resilience construct, identify dimensions, and generate potential items. Expe…

  • Assessing the Effectiveness of an Integrated Primary and Tertiary Multidisciplinary Diabetic Foot Care Programme

Open Access•Lixia Ge, Gary Yee Ang et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2025

Background: Singapore stands among the countries with the highest rates of diabetes-related lower extremity amputation (LEA) globally. Effective management of diabetic foot ulcer (DFU) is crucial for preserving patients’ limb function and alleviating the healthcare burden. Existing literature has demonstrated the promising impact of DFU care provided by multidisciplinary team (MDT) on lower limb salvage. Since 2020, the Diabetic Foot in Primary a…

  • Health commitment’s associations with health outcomes are independent of health behaviours

Open Access•Lixia Ge, Yun Hu et al.•ARTICLE•BMC Public Health•2025

These findings underscore the importance of assessing and addressing health commitment in healthcare practice and policy. Strategies to enhance health commitment hold potential for improving health behaviours and health outcomes, thereby contributing to overall well-being. However, it is important to note that the cross-sectional nature of this study does not allow for confirmation of causal pathways. Hence, longitudinal studies are needed to fur…

  • Development of a Population Health Data Mart (PHDM) to enable monitoring of population health indicators

    Open Access•Benjamin C Lee, S Ng et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2025

With Singapore’s recent launch of Healthier SG (HSG), there is increasing focus on measuring population health-centric indicators, which has spurred National Healthcare Group (NHG), as the Regional Health Manager (RHM) for residents in the Central-North region of Singapore, to develop the Population Health Data Mart (PHDM). Background: Singapore recently launched HSG, which is a national initiative that aims to shift its healthcare delivery strat…

  • Perceived Roles and Barriers in Delivering Community-Based Care

Open Access•Lixia Ge, Wan Fen Yip et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2023•References: 2

Our results highlight that the roles of HCPs and SCPs go beyond the provision of direct medical and social care. They were involved in activating and empowering clients to take care of their health, and importantly, fostering community-based sustainable support networks to better empower individuals in coping with health challenges. The identified barriers shed light on areas for potential improvements for integrated community care

  • Longitudinal Study Comparing Mental Health Outcomes in Frontline Emergency Department Healthcare Workers through the Different Waves of the Covid-19 Pandemic

Open Access•Francesca Th’ng, Kailing Adriel Rao et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2022

As countries transition from the COVID-19 pandemic to endemic status, healthcare systems continue to be under pressure. We aimed to quantify changes in depression, anxiety, stress and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) between 3 cohorts (2020, 2021 and 2022) of our Emergency Department (ED) healthcare workers (HCWs) and those who had worked through all 3 phases of the pandemic; and identify factors associated with poorer mental health outcomes…

  • Psychometric Properties of the Patient Activation Measure in Community-Dwelling Adults in Singapore

Open Access•Lixia Ge, Palvinder Kaur et al.•ARTICLE•INQUIRY The Journal of Health…•2022

The 13-item Patient Activation Measure has acceptable construct validity and good internal consistency among community-dwelling adults. It is a potential instrument to measure health activation in this population. Further research is required to investigate the expansion of response options, validate the cut-off scores for the activation levels and examine the test-retest reliability and responsiveness

  • A One-Year Longitudinal Study

Open Access•Francesca Th’ng, Kailing Adriel Rao et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2021

Frontline healthcare workers (HCWs) fighting COVID-19 have been associated with depression and anxiety, but there is limited data to illustrate these changes over time. We aim to quantify the changes in depression and anxiety amongst Emergency Department (ED) HCWs over one year and examine the factors associated with these changes. In this longitudinal single-centre study in Singapore, all ED HCWs were prospectively recruited face-to-face. Paper-…

  • Social isolation, loneliness and their relationships with depressive symptoms

Open Access•Lixia Ge, Chun Wei Yap et al.•ARTICLE•PLoS ONE•2017

OBJECTIVES: To assess the relationship between various social isolation indicators and loneliness, and to examine the differential associations that social isolation indicators, loneliness have with depressive symptoms. METHODS: Baseline data for 1,919 adults (aged 21 years and above) from a representative health survey in the Central region of Singapore was used for this study. The association between social isolation indicators (marital status,…
