Stigma, depression, quality of life, and the need for psychosocial support among people with tuberculosis in Indonesia
Stigma towards people with tuberculosis (TB-Stigma) is associated with other psychosocial consequences of TB including mental illness and reduced quality of life (QoL). In this primary health facility-based survey in seven provinces of Indonesia, from February to November 2022, we interviewed adults receiving…
What explains the provision of health insurance by Indonesian employers? A trend analysis of the National Labour Force Survey 2018-2022
Indonesian laws mandate that every employer should provide health insurance and work accident insurance to their employees. Nevertheless, there is a significant gap in the coverage of employer-sponsored insurance among Indonesian workers. This study examines the coverage of employer-sponsored insurance and work accident insurance and analyses the characteristics of the uninsured working population in Indonesia. We analysed nationally representati…
Developing a tool to measure tuberculosis-related stigma in workplaces in Indonesia
Workers with tuberculosis (TB) are often stigmatized, negatively impacting their socioeconomic position, mental health, and TB treatment outcomes. There is a dearth of validated tools to assess stigma in the worker population. This study aimed to develop and validate a novel, culturally adapted tool to measure TB-related stigma among workers in Indonesia. We translated, adapted, applied, and internally validated Van Rie's TB-Stigma Scale to the w…
Stigma towards people with tuberculosis
The culturally adapted Indonesian version of Van Rie's TB Stigma Scale is comprehensive, reliable, internally consistent, and valid. The scale is now ready for applied scale-up in research and practice to measure TB-stigma and evaluate the impact of TB-stigma reduction interventions in Indonesia
Exploring HIV stigma among future healthcare providers in Indonesia
Future healthcare professionals are an important group for interventions to eliminate HIV stigma in the health workforce. Researchers examined HIV stigma and its relationship with healthcare discipline, HIV knowledge, and religiosity among nursing, medical, and midwifery students (N = 505) in three regions of Indonesia. In a multivariable linear model, higher HIV stigma was associated with male sex, lower levels of income and HIV knowledge, and h…
Effectiveness of optimized food-based recommendation promotion to improve nutritional status and lipid profiles among Minangkabau women with dyslipidemia
The trial was retrospectively registered at ClinicalTrials.gov Protocol Registration and Result System (PRS) as NCT04085874, in September 2019
Long working hours, poor sleep quality, and work-family conflict
The incidence of fatigue among Indonesian tugboat crewmembers operating on the Mahakam River was considerably high. Working hours, sleep quality, and work-family conflict were strongly associated with fatigue in tugboat crewmembers; therefore, the working hours of tugboat crewmembers need to be improved. Crewmember lifestyle variables need to be studied further
Cumulative exposure characteristics of vegetable farmers exposed to Chlorpyrifos in Central Java – Indonesia; a cross-sectional study
These findings indicate an inadequate knowledge of using pesticides properly. Thus, we recommend comprehensive training on pesticide usage and encourage proper PPE to reduce the exposure level
