What values and conceptualizations of data are being advanced through new data protection regulations in Asia? This article answers this question with a comparative analysis of data protection regulations in China, India, and South Korea. The article identifies four key dimensions of divergence: conceptualizations of personal and sensitive information, cross-border data transfer restrictions, state exceptions, and considerations for platforms. With a detailed introduction of the proposed harmonic multi-layered cepstrum (HMLC) and combined frequency-perio…

  • A Genetic Determinant of the Preference Reversal Phenomenon

Jianmin Zeng, Xin Xiong et al.•ARTICLE•The American Journal of Psychology•2021

The preference reversal phenomenon occurs when revealed preference orderings for the same alternatives differ between 2 response modes. This phenomenon can be explained by dual process theories. System 1 is swift, automatic, and susceptible to biases, but System 2 is slow and deliberative and can correct biases produced by System 1. A more impulsive person, using fewer cognitive resources for System 2 to correct biases produced by System 1, shoul…

  • Can genes modulate anchoring effect

Open Access•Jianmin Zeng, Manru Liu et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of Psychology•2020

The anchoring effect is a well‐known decision bias, referring that initial irrelevant number (anchor) can impact late estimation. Anchoring effect can be explained as people starting from the anchor and stopping incremental adjustment too early—in other words, jumping into the conclusion impulsively. High impulsivity is associated with AA genotype of rs806379. Therefore, we hypothesized that rs806379 polymorphism can exert an influence on the anc…

Foreign direct investments (FDIs) have been widely recognized as a crucial feature of the Chinese industrial development process. Over the past decades, China has been attracting huge amounts of inward FDIs as a consequence of both spontaneous market dynamics and place-based preferential policies at the sub-national level. However, the Chinese market exhibits large dissimilarities in terms of FDI localization across territories that are worth inv…

Drawing on 2013 data, this article presents the first comprehensive overview of the field, including information about the global mix of players and variation in market niche. Three variables—years present in China, global strategy, and level of localization—help explain why some China practices grow bigger than others. Overall, however, there is a great deal of convergence on one business model: a…
