Prenatal clinicians’ perspectives on trauma-informed care competency and training
BACKGROUND: Prenatal clinicians express willingness to provide trauma-informed care (TIC) yet report barriers in translating TIC principles into practice. This study explored prenatal clinicians' perspectives on TIC competency and training, with the goal of identifying actionable strategies to strengthen training approaches in prenatal care. METHODS: A mixed methods study design was employed. A purposive sampling technique was used to recruit pre…
Musical training increases anticipatory responding and predictive control in sequence learning
Musicians demonstrate advantages in acquiring motor sequences, showing faster learning and better explicit sequence knowledge than non-musicians. However, it is unclear whether this advantage extends beyond acquisition to the consolidation phase, which is when newly learned skills stabilize and become resistant to interference. Additionally, while interference from executing competing motor tasks is well-established, less is known about whether p…
Identifying Patient Factors Associated with Subspecialty Appointment Attendance Rates After Neonatal Intensive Care Unit Discharge
Our objective was to understand the rates of missed follow-up appointments following discharge from a tertiary neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) over the course of 1 year. We abstracted demographic and clinical information from the medical record into a database, including appointment referrals and outcomes of those appointments. Follow-up compliance data were reviewed for one calendar year following NICU discharge for each patient. Using our d…

Methods Data from a sample of 1648 U.S. residents and 515 Texas residents surveyed in Fall 2020 and Spring 2021 were analyzed to determine their likelihood of choosing high‐speed rail if it was available. Results Results found that 35 perce…
The impact of Covid-19 on acute psychiatric admissions for first and repeated episode psychosis
BACKGROUND: There is limited evidence of the longer-term impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on acute admissions for psychosis in the UK. AIMS: We examined the impact of COVID-19 on rates of admissions for first and repeated episode psychosis, and changes in patient profile and seasonal patterns, over a period of 12 months. METHOD: We conducted a retrospective case note review of all patients admitted with a primary psychosis (F20-29 ICD 10 diagnosis…
