Adolescent contraceptive use: Comparisons of male and female attitudes and information
Information and attitudes about contraception and pregnancy were assessed with a self-administered questionnaire in a sample of urban Black teenagers. Data were obtained from 607 male and female students in high school health classes and a demographically similar group of 123 never-pregnant teenage women in a family planning clinic who had not attended these classes. Infertility and age at first coitus: A possible relationship
Reported age at first coitus was shown to be associated with incidence and degree of infertility. Infertility patients reported later first coital ages than gynaecological patients in a sample of 792 women seen in a major infertility service. A pilot study of a health services program for never-pregnant high-school students, which stresses development of incentives for personal involvement in their own health care, reports a low incidence of unintended pregnancy among girls who requested contraceptives. The social and emotional characteristics of those who continued contraceptive use are compared with the small group who had uninteneded pregnancies
