This correlational study examined perceived personal growth among couples who recently became grandparents, investigating its association with attachment style, self-differentiation, and the perceived growth of the spouse. Construction and Validation of the Multidimensional Experience of Grandparenthood Set of Inventories
A new set of inventories designed to examine the multidimensional experience of grandparenthood (MEG) was developed in four stages. Support Behind the Scenes: Attitudes and Practice of Pediatricians and Nurses With Grandparents of Sick Children
A total of 93 nurses and 52 pediatricians completed a quantitative and qualitative questionnaire tapping their perceptions of the functional aspects of grandparents' support to parents, the benefits and costs of this support, and their professional interactions with grandparents during the child's sickness. Reckless Driving and Gender: An Examination of a Terror Management Theory Explanation
A study, based on Terror Management Theory, examined the effects of mortality salience on young men's and women's behavioral intentions to drive recklessly. Participants (N = 206) reported on the relevance of driving to their self-esteem. Half of them were exposed to a mortality salience induction and the remaining to a control condition. Mental health and marital adaptation among mothers of children with cerebral palsy
Employing a theoretical model that emphasizes risk-resistance factors for maternal adaptation, this study compared 80 mothers of children with cerebral palsy to 80 mothers of children without physical disabilities. Results revealed differences between the two groups, and indicated that, among mothers of children with cerebral palsy, self-esteem, self-mastery, and family network size were the main variables that contributed to mothers' psychologic…
