  • Proportion and Number of Upper-Extremity Musculoskeletal Disorders Attributable to the Combined Effect of Biomechanical and Psychosocial Risk Factors in a Working Population

Open Access•Aboubakari Nambiema, John Bodin et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2021

The objective of this paper is to assess the combined effect of occupational biomechanical and psychosocial risk factors on the incidence of work-related upper-extremity musculoskeletal disorders (UEMSDs) and estimate the proportion and number of incident cases attributable to these risk factors in a working population. Using data from the French COSALI (COhorte des SAlariés LIgériens) cohort (enrolment phase: 2002–2005; follow-up phase: 2007–201…

  • Underreporting Work Absences for Nontraumatic Work-Related Musculoskeletal Disorders to Workers’ Compensation: Results of a 2007–2008 Survey of the Québec Working Population

Stock, Susan Stock et al.•ARTICLE•American Journal of Public Health•2014•References: 34

Objectives. We examined underestimation of nontraumatic work-related musculoskeletal disorders (WMSDs) stemming from underreporting to workers’ compensation (WC). Methods. In data from the 2007 to 2008 Québec Survey on Working and Employment Conditions and Occupational Health and Safety we estimated, among nonmanagement salaried employees (NMSEs) (1) the prevalence of WMSDs and resulting work absence, (2) the proportion with WMSD-associated work …

  • Lead Isotope Analyses of Bronze Age Copper‐base Artefacts From Al‐midamman, Yemen: Towards the Identification of an Indigenous Metal Production and Exchange System in the Southern Red Sea Region

    Open Access•Lauren Weeks, Edward J Keall et al.•ARTICLE•Archaeometry•2009•Cited by: 6•References: 28

The results of the lead isotope analysis (LIA) of 15 copper‐base artefacts from the Bronze Age site of al‐Midamman, Yemen, are reported. The LIA data suggest the existence of an indigenous Bronze Age metal production and exchange system centred on the southern Red Sea region, distinct from those in neighbouring regions of Arabia and the Levant. These preliminary results are highly significant for the archaeology of the region, suggesting that loc…

  • Distal Lower-Extremity Pain and Work Postures in the Quebec Population

Karen Messing, France Tissot et al.•ARTICLE•American Journal of Public Health•2008•Cited by: 2•References: 49

Objectives. Standing at work has been associated with discomfort and cardiovascular symptoms. Because standing postures vary in duration, mobility, and constraint, we explored associations between specific postures and pain in the lower extremities. Methods. We used multiple logistic regression to analyze associations between work factors and pain in the lower extremities during the previous 12 months that interfered with usual activities. We use…
