  • Adjustment for Variable Adherence Under Hierarchical Structure

    Tyson H Holmes, Donna M Zulman et al.•ARTICLE•Medical Care•2017•References: 35

BACKGROUND: Variable adherence to assigned conditions is common in randomized clinical trials. OBJECTIVES: A generalized modeling framework under longitudinal data structures is proposed for regression estimation of the causal effect of variable adherence on outcome, with emphasis upon adjustment for unobserved confounders. RESEARCH DESIGN: A nonlinear, nonparametric random-coefficients modeling approach is described. Estimates of local average t…

  • Advantages of Joint Modeling of Component HIV Risk Behaviors and Non-Response

    Open Access•Tyson H Holmes, A Anderson et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Psychiatry•2011

The HIV risk-taking behavior scale (HRBS) is an 11-item instrument designed to assess the risks of HIV infection due to self-reported injection-drug use and sexual behavior. A retrospective analysis was performed on HRBS data collected from approximately 1,000 participants pooled across seven clinical trials of pharmacotherapies for either the treatment of cocaine dependence or methamphetamine dependence. Analysis faced three important challenges…

  • Military-Related Sexual Trauma Among Veterans Health Administration Patients Returning From Afghanistan and Iraq

Rachel Kimerling, Amy E Street et al.•ARTICLE•American Journal of Public Health•2010•Cited by: 18•References: 23

We examined military-related sexual trauma among deployed Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom veterans. Of 125 729 veterans who received Veterans Health Administration primary care or mental health services, 15.1% of the women and 0.7% of the men reported military sexual trauma when screened. Military sexual trauma was associated with increased odds of a mental disorder diagnosis, including posttraumatic stress disorder, other …
