American Teacher Panel Civic Education Survey
Public schools have the potential to exacerbate or counter Truth Decay (the diminishing role of facts and analysis in American public life) by supporting students' development of knowledge, skills, and dispositions related to civic education. Researchers administered a survey to public-school social studies teachers about their approaches to civic education. This report, one in a series of six, provides technical information about the survey.
Evaluating tobacco retailer experience and compliance with a flavoured tobacco product restriction in Boston, Massachusetts
Tobacco retailers across Boston were largely in compliance with the regulation. Availability of flavoured tobacco products in youth-accessible retailers declined city-wide after policy implementation. Strong educational and enforcement infrastructure may greatly enhance retailer compliance
Youth victimization profiles and change in mental health symptoms over one year
Polyvictimized youth participating in community-based services are at increased risk for developing PTSD and externalizing problems, but symptoms appear to decrease to levels similar to other victimized youth after one year. (PsycINFO Database Record (c) 2019 APA, all rights reserved)
Change in externalizing problems over time among ethnic minority youth exposed to violence
The Volume-Quality Relationship in Antibiotic Prescribing
For many surgeries and high-risk medical conditions, higher volume providers provide higher quality care. The impact of volume on more common medical conditions such as acute respiratory infections (ARIs) has not been examined. Using electronic health record data for adult ambulatory ARI visits, we divided primary care physicians into ARI volume quintiles. We fitted a linear regression model of antibiotic prescribing rates across quintiles to ass…
Predictors of Study Retention From a Multisite Study of Interventions for Children and Families Exposed to Violence
Evaluation of interventions for children exposed to violence is critical for informing dissemination of effective services nationally, but retention rates in such studies are typically low, jeopardizing intent‐to‐treat analytic approaches. We examine predictors of retention (demographics, violence exposure, child mental health, caregiver demographics, and engagement in intervention) in a large multisite national study of interventions for childre…

The Quality of Pharmacologic Care for Adults in the United States
BACKGROUND: Despite rising annual expenditures for prescription drugs, little systematic information is available concerning the quality of pharmacologic care for adults in the United States. We evaluated how frequently appropriate pharmacologic care is ordered in a national sample of U.S. residents. METHODS: The RAND/UCLA Modified Delphi process was used to select quality-of-care indicators for adults across 30 chronic and acute conditions and p…
