  • Personality as a mediator of autistic traits and internalizing symptoms in two community samples

    Open Access•Olivia N Grella, Amanda Dunlap et al.•ARTICLE•BMC Psychology•2022

These results support the effects of personality on the relationship between autism traits and internalizing symptoms. Future research should explore these effects in clinical samples to better understand the role of personality in symptomatology and the need to address it as part of intervention

  • Immigration, Criminal Involvement, and Violence in the U.S

Kelly E Moore, Theddeus Iheanacho et al.•ARTICLE•Deviant Behavior•2021

Topics of immigration and crime often receive national attention, despite evidence of the "immigrant paradox," in which immigrants have lower than expected crime and violence given their extreme social disadvantage. Research examining the immigrant paradox using an expanded set of crime outcomes and the latest available population data is needed. Using the National Epidemiologic Survey on Alcohol and Related Conditions Wave III data (2012-2013; n…

  • Saracatinib Fails to Reduce Alcohol-Seeking and Consumption in Mice and Human Participants

    Open Access•Summer L Thompson, Carol A Gianessi et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Psychiatry•2021

More effective treatments to reduce pathological alcohol drinking are needed. The glutamatergic system and the NMDA receptor (NMDAR), in particular, are implicated in behavioral and molecular consequences of chronic alcohol use, making the NMDAR a promising target for novel pharmacotherapeutics. Ethanol exposure upregulates Fyn, a protein tyrosine kinase that indirectly modulates NMDAR signaling by phosphorylating the NR2B subunit. The Src/Fyn ki…

  • Trends in Trimorbidity Among Adults Experiencing Homelessness in Minnesota, 2000–2018

    Katherine Diaz Vickery, Tyler N A Winkelman et al.•ARTICLE•Medical Care•2021•References: 19

BACKGROUND: Earlier and more severe onset of chronic health conditions contributes to the increased risk of premature death among adults experiencing homelessness. Trimorbidity, a subset of multimorbidity representing overlap of physical health, mental health, and substance use conditions, disproportionately impacts adults experiencing homelessness. We know of no longitudinal data comparing trimorbidity trends among adults experiencing homelessne…

  • The prevalence of substance use disorders among community-based adults with legal problems in the U.S

Kelly E Moore, Lindsay Oberleitner et al.•ARTICLE•Addiction Research & Theory•2019

SUD diagnoses are prevalent among adults reporting legal problems, particularly those involving alcohol. There is a continued need for community-based addiction prevention and intervention efforts, especially for women with justice system involvement

  • A behavioural smoking treatment based on perceived risks of quitting

Andrea H Weinberger, Brian Pittman et al.•ARTICLE•Addiction Research & Theory•2014

This initial study demonstrated that an intervention targeting perceived risks of quitting was feasible to administer, acceptable to female smokers, and showed promise with regard to smoking outcomes, thus warranting further testing through Stage II clinical trials. Reducing perceived risks of quitting may represent a critical target for smoking treatment development

  • Lucid dreaming and ventromedial versus dorsolateral prefrontal task performance

    Open Access•Michelle Neider, Edward F Pace-Schott et al.•ARTICLE•Consciousness and Cognition•2011
