  • Ethnic Differences in the Reliability and Validity of a Panic Disorder Screen

    Mike Johnson, Michael R Johnson et al.•ARTICLE•Ethnicity and Health•2007•Cited by: 3•References: 2

These findings support the notion that cultural differences in the language and meaning associated with anxiety disorders contribute to the difficulty of accurately diagnosing PD in primary care populations. Additional research is needed to provide a better understanding of the cultural aspects of the anxiety experience. Such research would facilitate the development of better screening tools for panic and other anxiety disorders for ethnic minor…

    John D Grabenstein, Harry A Guess et al.•ARTICLE•Medical Care•2001•References: 11

BACKGROUND: Millions of doses of influenza vaccine are administered each year in the United States at nontraditional sites and by nontraditional vaccine providers. RESEARCH DESIGN: M…

  • Community Pharmacists as Immunization Advocates

    John D Grabenstein, Abraham G Hartzema et al.•ARTICLE•Medical Care•1992

To assess the cost-effectiveness of a cue to influenza vaccination provided by community pharmacists, a decision tree was constructed of the consequences of implementing a pharmacy-based vaccine-advocacy program, based on experience gained in an experiment involving three community pharmacies in Durham County, North Carolina. The model used morbidity and mortality assumptions derived from the infectious-disease literature and cost assumptions bas…

  • Nonmedical Factors Associated With the Prescribing Volume Among Family Practitioners in an HMO

    Abraham G Hartzema, Dale B Christensen•ARTICLE•Medical Care•1983

The influence of selected variables on the prescribing volume of eighty family practitioners in a large HMO was quantified through multiple regression analysis. Over 70% of the variation was explained. The patient panel size and age composition were the most important determinants and accounted for 45.7% of the variance. The number of patients seen per clinic hour explained 14.3% and interclinic differences explained another 8.1% of the variance.…

  • Documenting Outpatient Problem Intervention Activities of Pharmacists in an HMO

    Dale B Christensen, William H Campbell et al.•ARTICLE•Medical Care•1981

The outpatient drug use review experiences by pharmacists at a large health maintenance organization with on-site pharmacies were investigated. Pharmacists were asked to document the nature of potential drug therapy problems encountered, drug involved, review activities undertaken, and process-outcomes. Patterns of pharmacists intervention were observed over 1 year. Results indicated that the number of problems detected increased substantially du…
