  • Validity of EQ-5D-5L breathing and cognition bolt-ons in non-hospitalized patients after Covid-19

Open Access•Knut Stavem, Andrew Garratt et al.•ARTICLE•Quality of Life Research•2026

The results support the validity of the two bolt-ons in follow-up of non-hospitalized patients after COVID-19. Adding items of respiratory and cognitive symptoms may enhance the EQ-5D's appropriateness in respiratory and cognitive research and clinical practice

  • EQ-5D-5L value set for Norway

Open Access•Andrew Garratt, Knut Stavem et al.•ARTICLE•Quality of Life Research•2024

This study provides the Norwegian value set for the EQ-5D-5L based on health state values obtained from members of the adult general population in Norway. This is an important contribution to economic evaluation and the broader application ofthe EQ-5D-5L in Norway including clinical and health services research, and quality measurement

  • The course and determinants of post-traumatic stress over 12 months after hospitalization for Covid-19

Open Access•Knut Stavem, Trond Heir et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Psychiatry•2022

The level of PTSD symptoms decreased from 1.5 to 3 months after hospitalization, but did not decrease further to 12 months, and there was no association between PTSD symptoms and COVID-19 disease severity

  • Comparison of EQ-5D-3L and 5L versions following operative fixation of closed ankle fractures

Open Access•Andrew Garratt, Knut Stavem•ARTICLE•Quality of Life Research•2022

The 5L outperformed the 3L in terms of data quality, number of health states assessed and tests of validity. The 5L is recommended in research and other applications following surgery for ankle fracture but further testing including responsiveness to change is recommended at clinically relevant follow-up periods

  • Prevalence and Determinants of Fatigue after Covid-19 in Non-Hospitalized Subjects

Open Access•Knut Stavem, Waleed Ghanima et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2021

This study assessed the prevalence and determinants of fatigue in a population-based cohort of non-hospitalized subjects 1.5-6 months after COVID-19. It was a mixed postal/web survey of all non-hospitalized patients ≥18 years with a positive PCR for SARS-CoV-2 until 1 June 2020 in a geographically defined area. In total, 938 subjects received a questionnaire including the Chalder fatigue scale (CFQ-11) and the energy/fatigue scale of the RAND-36 …

  • Prevalence and Risk Factors for Post-Traumatic Stress in Hospitalized and Non-Hospitalized Covid-19 Patients

Open Access•Gunnar Einvik, Toril Dammen et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2021

This population-based study assessed the prevalence and determinants of symptom-defined post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) in a cohort of hospitalized and non-hospitalized patients about 1.5-6 months after their COVID-19 onset. The data were acquired from two mixed postal/web surveys in June-September 2020 from patients all aged ≥18 years with a positive polymerase chain reaction for severe acute respiratory syndrome Coronavirus-2 (SARS-CoV-2)…

  • Time trade-off with someone to live for

Open Access•T Hansen, Knut Stavem et al.•ARTICLE•Quality of Life Research•2021

Having significant others, or the lack of having significant others, was associated with respondents' valuation of hypothetical health states using TTO, more so than traditional sampling variables such as age and sex. Inadequate representativeness in terms of having significant others could bias health state preference values in valuation studies

  • Norwegian population norms for the EQ-5D-5L

Open Access•Andrew Garratt, T Hansen et al.•ARTICLE•Quality of Life Research•2021

The population norms will improve interpretation of EQ-5D-5L and EQ VAS scores in Norwegian applications including clinical practice, clinical and health services research, and national quality registers where EQ-5D-5L is the most widely used patient-reported instrument

  • Impact of chronic headache on workdays, unemployment and disutility in the general population

Espen Saxhaug Kristoffersen, Knut Stavem et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Epidemiology and…•2019•References: 32

BACKGROUND: 180 days/year) is lacking. This study investigated the impact of chronic headache on sickness absence, unemployment and disutility in the general population in Norway. METHODS: 30 000 persons aged 30-44 from the general population were screened for chronic headache by a screening questionnaire. The responder rate was 71%. The International Classification of Headache Disorders was used. We analysed the association of chronic headache w…

  • Influenced from the start

Open Access•Liv Ariane Augestad, Knut Stavem et al.•ARTICLE•Quality of Life Research•2016

The anchoring effect may bias TTO values. In this Web-based valuation study, the observed anchoring effect was substantial. Further studies are needed to determine whether the effect is present in face-to-face experiments

  • Patterns of snus and cigarette use

Liv Grøtvedt, Lisa Forsén et al.•ARTICLE•Tobacco Control•2012

Young men who only used snus at baseline had an increased risk of being dual users at follow-up. Snus use may therefore facilitate smoking

  • Time trade-off and attitudes toward euthanasia

Open Access•Liv Ariane Augestad, Kim Rand et al.•ARTICLE•Quality of Life Research•2012

  • Comparison of hypothetical and experienced EQ-5D valuations

Open Access•Kim Rand, Kim Rand-Hendriksen et al.•ARTICLE•Quality of Life Research•2011

  • The Effect of Hospital Size and Teaching Status on Patient Experiences With Hospital Care

Ingeborg Strømseng Sjetne, Marijke Veenstra et al.•ARTICLE•Medical Care•2007•References: 28

BACKGROUND: Hospitals rapidly change structure and organization. Little research has been conducted that documents whether hospital size and teaching status is associated with patient experiences. OBJECTIVES: We sought to assess the effect of hospital size and teaching status on patient experiences with hospital care. METHODS: We undertook a cross-sectional survey of patients discharged from somatic hospitals in Norway. Multilevel regression anal…
