Can digital transformation promote hospitality and tourism firms’ investment? Moderating effect of financing constraints and economic policy uncertainty
Research on corporate investment is widely acknowledged as essential in the realm of financial management within the hospitality and tourism sector. Drawing on information asymmetry and resource dependency theories, this study examines the effect of digital transformation on hospitality and tourism firm investment and explores how financing constraints and economic policy uncertainty moderate these effects. We utilized firms engaged in tourism, h…
Leveraging collective resources for digital transformation
In the digital age, while hospitality and tourism (H&T) firms accelerate digital transformation to stay competitive, the role of tourism trade associations as external resource providers in these firms’ digital transformation process remains underexplored. Drawing on resource-based theory (RBT), this study examines how tourism trade associations influence H&T firms’ digital transformation and explores the moderating effects of marketization and b…
Leveraging ESG investment to enhance labor employment in hospitality and tourism firms
Despite the growing focus in hospitality and tourism literature on the impact of environmental, social and governance (ESG) investment on corporate performance, empirical research has yet to explore its effects on labor employment, which are critical to economic vitality and social cohesion. Drawing on signaling theory, this study explores the effect of ESG investment on hospitality and tourism firm’ labor employment. The results of a fixed effec…
Signaling with data assets
Information asymmetry significantly influences the investment and financing decisions of tourism firms. This study extends signaling theory by introducing data assets as a novel signal to alleviate the maturity mismatch between the investment and financing. Using panel data from 2011 to 2022 of tourism firms listed on the China Stock Exchange, we conduct an empirical analysis using a fixed-effects model. The results indicate that data assets sign…
Weathering the storm
The severe nature of economic policy uncertainty (EPU) may compel tourism companies to adjust their strategic investments to survive and compete. This study investigates the impact of EPU on the environmental, social, and governance (ESG) investments of tourism and hospitality firms. We utilize a large panel dataset of publicly listed Chinese tourism companies from 2013 to 2022 to test three primary hypotheses derived from the real options theory…
Fabrication of PbO2 Electrodes with Different Doses of Er Doping for Sulfonamides Degradation
In the present study, PbO 2 electrodes, doped with different doses of Er (0%, 0.5%, 1%, 2%, and 4%), were fabricated and characterized. Surface morphology characterization by SEM-EDS and XRD showed that Er was successfully doped into the PbO 2 catalyst layer and the particle size of Er-PbO 2 was reduced significantly. Electrochemical oxidation of sulfamerazine (SMR) in the Er-PbO 2 anode system obeyed te pseudo first-order kinetic model with the …
County-level Predictors of Growth in Community-based Primary Care Use Among Veterans
BACKGROUND: The 2014 Choice Act expanded the Veterans Health Administration's (VA) capacity to purchase services for VA enrollees from community providers, yet little is known regarding the growth of Veterans' primary care use in community settings. OBJECTIVES: The aim was to measure county-level growth in VA community-based primary care (CBPC) penetration following the Choice Act and to assess whether CBPC penetration increased in rural counties…
