  • The challenges of investigating antimicrobial resistance in Vietnam - what benefits does a One Health approach offer the animal and human health sectors

    Open Access•Marisa E V Mitchell, Robyn Alders et al.•ARTICLE•BMC Public Health•2020

The findings of this study suggest that there is potential to strengthen multi-sectorial collaboration between the animal and human health sectors by building upon existing informal networks. • A rapid assessment framework for food system shocks

    Open Access•James R A Butler, James Butler et al.•ARTICLE•Environmental Science & Policy•2020•Cited by: 2•References: 11

The frequency and severity of shocks to food systems is accelerating globally, exemplified by the current COVID-19 outbreak. In low- and middle-income countries, the impacts have exacerbated existing food system vulnerabilities and poverty. Governments and donors must respond quickly, but few tools are available that identify interventions to build food system resilience, or emerging opportunities for transformation. In this paper we reflect on t…

Undernutrition resulting from inadequate access to high-quality, nutritious food is a widespread issue in sub-Saharan Africa impacting the health and survival of mothers and their children. Inadequate dietary intake leads to a deficiency in nutrients including calcium, required for growth and physiological functioning. This study investigated the potential of increasing dietary calcium intake by the addition of heat-treated ground eggshell to loc…

  • Characterising infant and young child feeding practices and the consumption of poultry products in rural Tanzania

Open Access•Julia de Bruyn, Brigitte Bagnol et al.•ARTICLE•Maternal and Child Nutrition•2017

Suboptimal breastfeeding practices, early initiation of complementary feeding, and monotonous cereal-based diets have been implicated as contributors to continuing high rates of child undernutrition in sub-Saharan Africa. Nutrition-sensitive interventions, including agricultural programs that increase access to nutrient-rich vegetables, legumes, and animal-source foods, have the potential to achieve sustainable improvements in children's diets. I…
