  • Estimation of the serial interval and proportion of pre-symptomatic transmission events of Covid− 19 in Ireland using contact tracing data

Open Access•Conor G McAloon, Patrick Wall et al.•ARTICLE•BMC Public Health•2021

Whilst our analysis was based on a large sample size, data were collected for the primary purpose of interrupting transmission chains. Similar to other studies estimating the serial interval, our analysis is restricted to transmission pairs where the infector is known with some degree of certainty. Such pairs may represent more intense contacts with infected individuals than might occur in the overall population. It is therefore possible that our…

  • Numbers of close contacts of individuals infected with Sars-CoV-2 and their association with government intervention strategies

Open Access•Conor G McAloon, Patrick Wall et al.•ARTICLE•BMC Public Health•2021

We found that the number of contacts per infected case was overdispersed, the mean varied considerable over time and was temporally associated with government interventions. Analysis of the reported number of contacts per individual in contact tracing data may be a useful early indicator of changes in behaviour in response to, or indeed despite, government restrictions. This study provides useful information for triangulating assumptions regardin…

  • This is an EU crisis requiring an EU solution”

    Open Access•Rahul Sambaraju, Chris Mcvittie et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Community & Applied…•2017•Cited by: 2•References: 8

Discursive social psychological research shows the centrality of treating arrival nations as unitary entities that are incompatible for nonnation others (immigrants, asylum seekers, and refugees) in legitimately warranting their exclusion. We extend these findings for the current Special Issue and for broader literature in examining inclusion issues in the European Union (EU) in the ongoing context of the “refugee crisis.” We offer a discursive a…

  • The epidemiology of S. sonnei and S. flexneri in Pima County, Arizona

    S C McCombie, Danielle Funk et al.•ARTICLE•American Journal of Public Health•1988•References: 8

Investigation of 189 cases of shigellosis reported to the Pima County, Arizona Health Department in 1986 revealed that 23 per cent of cases could be attributed to travel to Mexico, and 10 per cent to day care attendees and their household contacts. No source of infection or high-risk activity could be demonstrated for 43 per cent of the cases. Households in which S. flexneri occurred were more likely to be characterized by crowded living situatio…
