Pathways to perceived HIV-related stigma among people living with HIV: The role of social support, coping styles, psychosocial symptoms and caregiver stigma
This study investigates the pathways to perceived HIV-related stigma among people living with HIV (PLWH) in China, focusing on the roles of social support, coping styles, psychosocial symptoms, and caregiver stigma. Utilizing a cross-sectional survey of 3,040 participants and 425 caregivers recruited from healthcare settings across Shanghai, Beijing, Guangdong, Guangxi, and Yunnan, we employed Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) to examine the com…
Current situation and correlates of perceived stigma among people living with HIV: A cross-sectional study in China
Addressing stigma is vital to improving the well-being of people living with HIV (PLWH). This cross-sectional study, including 3,040 PLWH across five Chinese cities (Nov 2022-Mar 2023), found 1261 (41.5%) reported perceived stigma. Medical-related stigma was most common (19.9%). Stigma prevalence was higher in Beijing, Shanghai, and Shenzhen (51.3%) than in Kunming and Nanning (32.3%). Generalized linear modeling linked stigma frequency to lower …
Interactive Effects of Agitation and Cognitive Impairment on Odor Identification in Patients With Late-Life Depression
The coexistence of agitation and language or attention deficit was associated with worse OI in subjects with LLD. Agitation should be considered since OI predicts cognitive decline in patients with LLD
Altered Microstate Dynamics and Spatial Complexity in Late-Life Schizophrenia
This study revealed an altered pattern of microstate dynamics and omega complexity in patients with LLS. This may reflect the disturbed neural basis underlying LLS and enhance the understanding of the pathophysiology of LLS
Undue Influence and Will Substitutes: Vitiating Transactions that Blur the Boundaries between Life and Death
An ageing population combined with decades of economic growth has correlated with a rise in inheritance disputes. While many of these disputes involve wills, non‐probate instruments known as ‘will substitutes’ that operate during the donor's lifetime but also transfer specific assets upon death are playing a significant role. To date, the academic literature has not adequately addressed how undue influence claims against will substitutes have bee…
Longitudinal Association Between Cognition and Depression in Patients With Late-Life Depression: A Cross-Lagged Design Study
Objectives: Although previous studies have extensively confirmed the cross-sectional relationship between cognitive impairment and depression in depressed elderly patients, the findings of their longitudinal associations are still mixed. The purpose of this study was to explore the two-way causal relationship between depression symptoms and cognition in patients with late-life depression (LLD). Methods: A total of 90 patients with LLD were assess…
Neuropsychiatric Symptoms Exacerbate the Cognitive Impairments in Patients With Late-Life Depression
Background: Neuropsychiatric symptoms (NPS) and cognitive impairments are both common in patients with late-life depression (LLD). However, the relationship between NPS and cognitive functions in LLD patients remains unclear. The current study aims to explore the effects of NPS on cognitive impairments in LLD patients. Methods: Two hundred and sixty-two LLD patients and 141 normal controls (NC) were recruited. Exploratory factor analysis was used…
