Open Access•Enfu Cheng, Cheng Enfu et al.•ARTICLE•Monthly Review•2021•Cited by: 3

Neoimperialism, the specific contemporary phase of historical development, can be summed up on the basis of five key features: the new monopoly of production and circulation; the new monopoly of finance capital; the monopoly of the U.S. dollar and intellectual property; the new monopoly of the international oligarchic alliance; and the economic essence and general trend

  • A Study of Unnatural Deaths during the Difficult Three Year Period in China, 1959-1961

    Open Access•Enfu Cheng, Cheng Enfu et al.•ARTICLE•Science & Society•2018•Cited by: 1•References: 3

The popular view that the number of unnatural deaths in China during the Difficult Three Year Period (1959-1961) amounted to some 30 million is false, as shown by careful analysis. Taking the average death toll from 1955 to 1957 as the base number, and combining this with unreported deaths from 1953 to 1964 and subsequent corrections, it may be estimated that approximately four to five million people suffered unnatural deaths during the Difficult…

  • A Theory of China's 'Miracle

Enfu Cheng, Cheng Enfu et al.•ARTICLE•Monthly Review•2017

China's rapid economic development in recent years is often characterized as "miraculous." Talk of a "Beijing Consensus" or "China model" has become commonplace in academic debates. But as we have written elsewhere, "theoretical problems have started to emerge with regards to the very existence, content, and prospects of the China model." The key question, then, is what kind of economic theory and strategy underpin this "miracle."... [W]e hold th…

Enfu Cheng, Cheng Enfu et al.•ARTICLE•International Critical Thought•2016•Cited by: 1

In “At the ‘End of History’ Still Stands Democracy,” Francis Fukuyama proposes that there has been no serious threat to his idea that Western style democracy is the “end of history” and that the United States does not damage global stability. Through analyzing and criticizing the main ideas of Francis Fukuyama, the conclusion is drawn that the China model is a powerful proof against his view of the “end of history.” The tension in European and As…

Enfu Cheng, Cheng Enfu et al.•ARTICLE•International Critical Thought•2012

Editor's note: The Occupy Wall Street (OWS) Movement began on 17 September 2011 in New York, the financial center of America, and originally started by a few hundred people, has spread to major capitalist countries and turned into a worldwide social movement. OWS is the largest protest both in scale and range since 1970s in the United States. However, the Western media beat the bush and distort the fundamental downside of American political insti…
