  • Folsom Lithic Procurement, Tool Use, and Replacement at the Lake Theo Site, Texas

    Briggs Buchanan, Rain Vehik•ARTICLE•Plains Anthropologist•2002•Cited by: 7•References: 11

Folsom technological organization is examined from the perspective of the Lake Theo site (41 B/70). Lake Theo is a stratified, multi-component site located on the southern Plains. Lake Theo is unique in that it is the only Folsom bison kill on the southern Plains located in proximity to a high-quality chert source (Tecovas jasper). Analysis of the Folsom lithic assemblage recovered from the site focuses on defining patterns of raw material procur…

  • A Multivariate Analysis of the Fristoe Burial Complex in Southwestern Missouri

    Rain Vehik•ARTICLE•Plains Anthropologist•1977•Cited by: 2

This paper presents the result of an analysis of 24 burial mounds and cairns in southwest Missouri. All of the sites belong to the Fristoe Burial Complex with an estimated age of A. D. 500 to A.D. 1000. Data selected for analysis consisted of 41 traits distributed in varying numbers among the sites. In order to observe relationships between sites, a Q-type factor analysis was used. An orthogonal rotation yielded five factors. Three factors are di…
