    Steven R Holen, Mark P Muñiz et al.•ARTICLE•Plains Anthropologist•2008•Cited by: 3•References: 8

Howard (2001) attempts to determine if the Angus “point”, reportedly found with a mammoth skeleton in south central Nebraska in 1931, is an authentic artifact or a modem fake. Howard uses the lack of use-wear and post-depositional surface modification of the artifact as his evidence to infer that the artifact is a fake (Howard 2001:325). A reanalysis of the artifact using multiple criteria including historical information regarding flintknapping …

  • Exploring Technological Organization and Burial Practices at the Paleoindian Gordon Creek Site (5LR99), Colorado

    Mark P Muñiz•ARTICLE•Plains Anthropologist•2004•Cited by: 7•References: 47

The goals of this article are to present the results of a new radiocarbon date and lithic analyses conducted on the artifacts interred with the Gordon Creek burial (5LR99) located in the Front Range foothills of northern Colorado. An AMS assay returned a date of 9650 ± 50 B.P (NSRL-13179, CURL-6724; carbonized sap; δ13C = −19.7‰). Reduction strategies and morphology were examinedfor two of the bifaces (13652.a and 13652.d) accompanying the burial…
