A Functional Analysis Of Ceramics From The Helb Site9 39Ca208, Campbell County, South Dakota
Ceramics recovered from the Helb site during three decades of research from 1966 to 1992 are described and analyzed from a functional standpoint. The division of Riggs ware into types on the basis ofrim decoration is shown to be unrelated to use categories at the site. Instead, Kleinsasser’s initial proposal that the ware should be divided on the basis of variations in rim form is upheld. These rim forms are designated Riggs Flared and Riggs Outc…
