  • The Social Life of Scriptures

Akesha Baron, J Bialecki et al.•BOOK•Social Life of Scriptures•2020

What do Christians do with the Bible? How do theyùindividually and collectivelyùinteract with the sacred texts? Why does this engagement shift so drastically among and between social, historical, religious, and institutional contexts? Such questions are addressed in a most enlightening, engaging, and original way in The Social Life of Scriptures. Contributors offer a collection of closely analyzed and carefully conducted ethnographic and historic…

  • Geology of the Alpha Regio (V-32) Quadrangle, Venus

    Open Access•Erin M Bethell, Richard E Ernst et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Maps•2019

We present a 1:2,500,000 geological map of the Alpha Regio (V-32) quadrangle, Venus. The V-32 quadrangle extends from 0° to 25 S, 0°to 30° E with an area of approximately 7,600,000 km 2 . Geological mapping was conducted using full resolution (maximum 75 m/pixel) SAR, altimetry and stereo-derived topography data from NASA's Magellan mission in ArcGIS 10.5. Nearly 40,000 lineaments were mapped. The oldest unit, tessera terrain, is present in two m…

  • Searching for the Spirit

C Mathews Samson, Davidson College et al.•ARTICLE•Southern Anthropological Society…•2012

There are two frames for making sense of the research on Pentecostal religious forms discussed in this essay. 1 First, there has been a significant change in the religious landscape of Latin America over the past 50 years. The most visible evidence of this change is the presence—manifested to the observing eye in the ubiquitous small church buildings (templos) in small towns and megacities throughout the region—of some 15 percent of the populatio…

  • Quebec Radiocarbon Measurements I

    Open Access•C Samson, L Barrette et al.•ARTICLE•Radiocarbon•1977•Cited by: 1•References: 6

The present list reports 14 C measurements made in our laboratory from December 1972 to December 1973

  • Quebec Radiocarbon Measurements II

    Open Access•L Barrette, P Lasalle et al.•ARTICLE•Radiocarbon•1977•References: 3

Experimental procedures and calculation remain almost as previously described in R, 1977, v 19, p 326-331. The only difference is in the counting equipment. We now use a Beckman LS-230 counter where samples are counted for a total count of about 30,000
