  • C Variation in Limestone On An Aquifer-Wide Scale and Its Effects On Groundwater 14 C Dating Models

    Open Access•A B Muller, A L Mayo•ARTICLE•Radiocarbon•1986•Cited by: 1•References: 7

In modeling the initial 14 C activity of ground waters, the δ 13 C of marine limestone is taken conventionally to vary little about 0‰ PDB. This variation was found to be 6.28‰ in samples taken over intervals from 10 -2 to 10 5 m in the Mooney Falls Member of the Redwall Limestone in northern Arizona. Such a variation will cause appreciable variability in the results of all four initial activity models tested. The variability, due primarily to a …

  • Ground-Water Circulation in the Meade Thrust Allochthon Evaluated by Radiocarbon Techniques

    Open Access•A B Muller, A L Mayo•ARTICLE•Radiocarbon•1983•References: 4

The Meade thrust, in southeastern Idaho, is a major element of the Western Overthrust Belt. The allochthon is of geo-economic importance both as a potential hydrothermal area and as the principal mining area within the Western Phosphate Field. To assist in the development of these two resources, an understanding of the regional ground-water circulation was sought. Geologic and hydrologic data from boreholes in this area are virtually nonexistent.…
