  • Tropical Rainforest Dynamics and Palaeoclimate Implications since the late Pleistocene, Nilgiris, India

Open Access•Priyanka Raja, Hema Achyuthan et al.•ARTICLE•Quaternary Research•2019

A multiproxy study involving sedimentology, palynology, radiocarbon dating, stable isotopes, and geochemistry was carried out on the Parsons Valley Lake deposit, Nilgiris, India, to determine palaeoclimatic fluctuations and their possible impact on vegetation since the late Pleistocene. The 72-cm-deep sediment core that was retrieved reveals five distinct palaeoclimatic phases: (1) Warm and humid conditions with a high lake stand before the last …

  • Stalagmite δ18O variations in southern India reveal divergent trends of Indian Summer Monsoon and East Asian Summer Monsoon during the last interglacial

    Open Access•Narayana C Allu, Manish Tiwari et al.•ARTICLE•Quaternary International•2015

  • Paleoproductivity Variations in the Equatorial Arabian Sea

Open Access•Manish Tiwari, Rengaswamy Ramesh et al.•ARTICLE•Radiocarbon•2006•Referencias: 57

We analyzed a sediment core from the equatorial Arabian Sea, chronologically constrained by accurate accelerator mass spectrometry (AMS) radiocarbon dates on selected planktonic foraminiferal species, for paleoproductivity variations corresponding to the variations in the Indian Ocean Equatorial Westerlies (IEW). The IEW in turn are positively correlated to the Southern Oscillation Index (SOI), which is a measure of El Niño, Southwest monsoon (SW…

  • A Comparative Study of Monsoonal and Non-Monsoonal Himalayan Lakes, India

    Open Access•Sheela Kusumgar, D P Agrawal et al.•ARTICLE•Radiocarbon•1995•Referencias: 6

Sedimentological, mineral magnetic and carbon isotopic studies on cores from Mansar Lake in the Jammu area provide paleomonsoonal history dating back to 580 bc. From ca. 580 bc to ad 300, the region experienced precipitation similar to the present, whereas from ad 300 to 1400, the monsoon was relatively subdued. A small excursion ca. ad 1100 suggests an effect of medieval warming. Studies in the Kumaon region did not provide a proper precipitatio…
