  • Accelerator mass spectrometer facility for heritage radiocarbon dating at NRICH, Korea

Open Access•Min-Ji Kong, Sujin Park et al.•ARTICLE•Radiocarbon•2024•References: 25

In 2021, the National Research Institute of Cultural Heritage (NRICH) installed a new accelerator mass spectrometer (AMS) to date Korean national heritage. Before conducting radiocarbon dating, the facility was set up and its performance was assessed. AMS system parameters have been optimized. Measurement of standard and blank samples was verified. Intercomparison analyses were also performed using heritage samples. The F 14 C value of NIST 4990C…

  • Recent Spatial Distribution of Radiocarbon in Urban Tree Leaves at Gyeongju, South Korea

    Open Access•Sang-Hun Lee, Min-Ji Kong et al.•ARTICLE•Radiocarbon•2023•Cited by: 1•References: 23

Radiocarbon ( 14 C) in natural samples undergoes changes due to variations in atmospheric CO 2 resulting from anthropogenic activities. To analyze the variation of the 14 C ratio in atmospheric CO 2 , deciduous tree leaves were collected in Gyeongju, a popular tourist city in South Korea. Leaf samples were collected from Prunus subg. Cerasus trees at five different sampling points throughout the city over 3 years (2018, 2020, and 2021). The 14 C …
