Tubular Amber Beads from Neolithic Settlement at Zvidze in the Lake Lubāns Wetlands
This paper discusses the most important ancient amber tubular beads from the Zvidze settlement in the Lake Lubāns wetlands, and their analogies in the forest zone of Eastern Europe. Special attention is paid to specific forms of amber bead: cylindrical, beads with a thickening in the middle part, rounded, arched diamond-shaped and other archaic beads, long and short barreltype, spool-type, beads with oval pinched cross-cuts, and spherical beads. …

Miniature Neolithic figurines in clay are a special topic of research. This especially concerns areas where their representation has so far been poor. Late Neolithic Amber Beads and Pendants from the Lake Lubāns Wetlands, Latvia
In Late Neolithic Europe, amber beads and pendants were initially mainly made in the coastal zone of the Baltic Sea, due to the presence of amber washed up by the Litorina Sea. There were four principal localized zones of Neolithic amber artifacts in this region: the eastern Baltic, the mouth of the Vistula River, Jutland and Skone, and Fennoscandinavia. Tartu Radiocarbon Dates XIII
This date list reports dates of archaeological samples of Mesolithic and Neolithic sites of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania. We use liquid scintillation counting at the Geochemical and Statistical Laboratory of the Institute of Zoology and Botany, Estonian Academy of Sciences. Our modern standard is benzene enriched in 14 C and its activity is checked with an NBS oxalic acid standard sample. Dates are given in conventional 14 C years, based on the …
Mesolithic and Neolithic Habitation of the Eastern Baltic
In this paper we consider the radiocarbon chronology of Mesolithic and Neolithic settlement sites in the eastern Baltic region. Dating of wood and charcoal from Estonian and Latvian sites establishes the periods (early, middle and late) within these epochs. We present 90 14 C dates, as yet unpublished in radiocarbon, produced by laboratories in Riga, Tallin, Tartu, Leningrad and Moscow
