  • Determination of Bio Content in Polymers used in the Packaging of food Products

Open Access•C Telloli, Antonietta Rizzo et al.•ARTICLE•Radiocarbon•2019

The ENEA Radiocarbon Laboratory (Bologna, Italy) has been operating since 1985; it is the oldest among such laboratories operating in Italy and has been active for about 30 years in the field of dating of different types of samples with the radiocarbon ( 14 C) liquid scintillation method. This study shows the detailed procedure for radiocarbon analysis on bioplastic materials by means of the synthesis of benzene, which includes CO 2 production an…

  • Upgrade of the CO 2 Direct Absorption Method for Low-Level 14 C Liquid Scintillation Counting

Open Access•Chiara Canducci, Paolo Bartolomei et al.•ARTICLE•Radiocarbon•2013•Cited by: 1•References: 9

A new system for CO 2 absorption and liquid scintillation counting (LSC) was designed and developed along with its inherent measurement protocol for radiocarbon analysis in gaseous emissions, fuels, and biobased products. CO 2 is chemically trapped as a carbamate in a suitable absorbing solution (3-methoxy-propyl-amine), gravimetrically measured, and analyzed by LSC (using a Quantulus TM 1220) to determine the 14 C content. The use of cryogenic t…

  • Enea Radiocarbon Measurements III

Open Access•Giuseppe Magnani, Paolo Bartolomei et al.•ARTICLE•Radiocarbon•2008•References: 10

This paper includes determinations of archaeological samples coming from different sites and performed at the ENEA Radiocarbon Laboratory

  • Radiocarbon and U-series dating of the endemic deer Praemegaceros cazioti (Depéret) from “Grotta Juntu”, Sardinia

Open Access•Valerio Benzi, Laura Abbazzi et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Archaeological Science•2006•References: 7

  • U-series and radiocarbon dates on mollusc shells from the uppermost layer of the archaeological site of KHB-1, Ra's al Khabbah, Oman

Open Access•Giuseppe Magnani, Paolo Bartolomei et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Archaeological Science•2006•Cited by: 9•References: 3

  • Enea Radiocarbon Measurements I

Open Access•Giuseppe Magnani, Paolo Bartolomei et al.•ARTICLE•Radiocarbon•2006•References: 1

This paper includes determinations of archeological and geological samples from different sites in central Italy performed at the Ente per le Nuove Tecnologie l'Energia e l'Ambiente (ENEA) Radiocarbon Laboratory. This laboratory has been in operation since 1985 at the ENEA Bologna Research Center

  • Enea Radiocarbon Measurements II

Open Access•Giuseppe Magnani, Paolo Bartolomei et al.•ARTICLE•Radiocarbon•2006

This paper includes determinations of geological samples coming from the Emilia Romagna region (northern Italy) performed at the ENEA Radiocarbon Laboratory. These analyses were executed as part of the Geological Cartography (CARG) project aimed to realize a new Italian Geological Map

  • Cosmic Background Reduction in the Radiocarbon Measurements by Liquid Scintillation Spectrometry at the Underground Laboratory of Gran Sasso

Open Access•Wolfango Plastino, Lauri Kaihola et al.•ARTICLE•Radiocarbon•2001•Cited by: 1•References: 3

Radiocarbon measurements by two 1220 Quantulus TM ultra low background liquid scintillation spectrometers were performed at the underground laboratory of Gran Sasso and the Radiocarbon Laboratory of E.N.E.A.-Bologna to study the efficiency and background variations related to measurement sites. The same configuration setup, i.e. the same center of gravity of the 14 C spectrum (SQP(I) = 410 ± 1) was obtained in both instruments. Many different bac…

  • Solar Flare Particle Effects and Seasonal Radiocarbon Variations in Tree Rings of the Northern and Southern Hemispheres

Open Access•Paolo Bartolomei, Stefano Cecchini et al.•ARTICLE•Radiocarbon•1995•Cited by: 1•References: 13

Measurements of ∆ 14 C and δ 13 C, separately in early wood and late wood of two Mediterranean pine species, with a nearly year-long growth season, were made to better define possible solar flare particle effects. The measurements were made for suitable periods around the years of big flares (e.g. , 1942, 1946, 1989) in Pinus pinea of the Adriatic area and Pinus halepensis from South Australia. We found that the 14 C concentration is consistently…
