  • Radiocarbon Dating of the Early Bronze Age Cemetery at Arano, Verona, Northern Italy

Open Access•Erio Valzolgher, John Meadows et al.•ARTICLE•Radiocarbon•2012•Cited by: 2•References: 21

Seventeen of the 73 individuals buried in the Early Bronze Age (EBA) cemetery at Arano di Cellore di Illasi, near Verona, northern Italy, were radiocarbon dated by accelerator mass spectrometry (AMS). Bayesian modeling of the calibrated dates suggests that the cemetery was probably used over several generations mainly within the first 2 centuries of the 2nd millennium cal BC. Burial activity was therefore mainly restricted to within the EBA I B/E…

  • A Wiggle-Matched Date for the Copper Age Cemetery at Manerba Del Garda, Northern Italy

    Open Access•Lawrence H Barfield, W Manning et al.•ARTICLE•Radiocarbon•2010•Cited by: 3•References: 23

The cemetery in the Riparo Valtenesi rockshelter at Manerba del Garda in northern Italy is well known for its wooden burial chambers. These chambers are some of the best sources of evidence for 3rd millennium BC collective burial in Europe. To further refine the absolute dating of burial activity at the site (beyond the approximate data provided by a previous series of routine radiocarbon measurements), a charred construction oak timber was sampl…
