  • Beach ridge evolution during the Holocene Climatic Optimum at Río de la Plata estuary, Argentina

    Open Access•Sebastián Richiano, Augusto N Varela et al.•ARTICLE•Quaternary International•2022

  • Tegula atra (Lesson, 1830) (Mollusca, Gastropoda) in the marine Quaternary of Patagonia (Argentina, SW Atlantic)

Marina L Aguirre, Sebastián Richiano et al.•ARTICLE•Quaternary International•2013

  • Taphonomic comparison between two bivalves (Mactra and Brachidontes) from Late Quaternary deposits in northern Argentina

    Open Access•Marina L Aguirre, Sebastián Richiano et al.•ARTICLE•Quaternary International•2010•Cited by: 3•References: 5

  • Holocene molluscs from archaeological sites of the Pampean region of Argentina

    Open Access•M Bonomo, Marina L Aguirre•ARTICLE•Geoarchaeology•2008•Cited by: 3•References: 1

The aim of this study is to provide a regional review and update our knowledge of molluscan records from Late Quaternary (12.2–0.4 ka B.P.) archaeological sites of the Pampean region. Comparisons with molluscs from the modern littoral, Holocene beach ridges, and estuarine sediments are made, allowing a synthesis of the main taxa recovered and reinterpretations of the probable past human uses. Overall, the biological and archaeological data gather…

  • Radiocarbon Reservoir Ages and Hardwater Effect for the Northeastern Coastal Waters of Argentina

    Open Access•Eduardo A Gómez, C Marcela Borel et al.•ARTICLE•Radiocarbon•2008•Cited by: 5•References: 23

Accelerator mass spectrometry (AMS) radiocarbon dates were obtained for 18 mollusk shells collected alive along the Buenos Aires province coast, Argentina, over the period AD 1914–1935. Reservoir ages were estimated for all samples on the basis of the tree-ring calibration curve for the Southern Hemisphere (SHCal04, McCormac et al. 2004) and the marine δR values calculated as the difference between the conventional 14 C age and the age deduced fr…

  • Variation in isotopic composition (C, O and Sr) of Holocene Mactra isabelleana (Bivalvia) from the coast of Buenos Aires Province, Argentina

    Open Access•Marina L Aguirre, Melanie J Leng et al.•ARTICLE•The Holocene•1998•Cited by: 2•References: 2

The 13 C/ 12 C and 18O/ 16 O ratios of carbonate (incremental growth bands and whole shells) of the bivalve Mactra isabelleana collected from Holocene (including modern) littoral deposits along the coastal area of Buenos Aires Province, close to the Rió de la Plata river, reflect different environments which stayed relatively constant throughout the Holocene. Differences in 13 C/ 12 C and 18O/ 16 O ratios along the growth axis of two shells from …
