Identification of hidden subtypes in occupational health examinations and their biomedical characteristics using graph-enhanced deep representation learning
Purpose Occupational health examinations have long relied on conventional health classes to assess worker health status. However, individuals within the same examination class may differ substantially in risk sources, pathophysiological background, and potential progression patterns. This study aimed to determine whether stable hidden health subtypes exist beyond conventional occupational health classifications in a large real-world cohort and to…

College students’ cognition and attitude toward medical knowledge education after a global public health event
Introduction: The past global public health event has heightened governmental and societal awareness of the importance of health and medical knowledge education. This study aims to investigate and compare the attitude and cognition of non-medical students and medical students toward medical knowledge education. Methods: A self-administered, anonymous questionnaire was voluntarily completed by 304 university students recruited through the Wen-Juan…

Saline-Soil Deformation Extraction Based on an Improved Time-Series InSAR Approach
Significant seasonal fluctuations could occur in the regional scattering characteristics and surface deformation of saline soil, and cause decorrelation, which limits the application of the conventional time-series InSAR (TS-InSAR). For extending the saline-soil deformation monitoring capability, this paper presents an improved TS-InSAR approach, based on the interferometric coherence statistics and high-coherence interferogram refinement. By con…
Income gradient in health-related quality of life — the role of social networking time
This study verifies the positive association between income and health-related quality of life. The results show that people's network ties are affected by their income and confirm the role of social networking time in the reproduction of the income gradient in health-related quality of life
Prenatal Progestin Exposure Is Associated With Autism Spectrum Disorders
We have previously reported that prenatal progestin exposure induces autism-like behavior in offspring through ERβ (estrogen receptor β) suppression in the brain, indicating that progestin may induce autism spectrum disorders (ASD). In this study, we aim to investigate whether prenatal progestin exposure is associated with ASD. A population-based case-control epidemiology study was conducted in Hainan province of China. The ASD children were firs…
The Chinese Mountains as a Night-time Stage
As the tourism sector grows as a whole, night-time tourism is playing a significant complementary role in the regional development not only of urban areas, but also of the mountainous areas that surround them. Following twelve years of very rapid development, night-time tourist products in China’s mountainous Scenic Areas are offered primarily in the form of outdoor performances. Based on a case study of the show Impressions of Liu Sanjie, which …
Outdoor Theatrical Shows in the Remarkable Landscapes of the Chinese Mountains, Between Reinvention of a Tradition and Development of Tourism
Using a case study (Zhangjiajie), this article discusses the status accorded to outdoor theatrical shows in the remarkable mountainous landscapes of China. This type of performance has become very widespread in the country since 2004. In the form of a sound-and-light musical drama, it adopts a mythified and very formalized approach that uses and embraces the marvellous landscape and attempts to link spectacular technical effects to a stereotypica…
Leisure Time, Leisure Activities, and Happiness in China
This study utilized a nation-wide survey (n=73,622) to examine the associations of leisure time, leisure activities, and demographics with happiness among residents in China. Ordered logit regression analyses indicated that leisure time was positively associated with happiness. While passive leisure activities (e.g., watching TV, Internet surfing) were found to contribute to happiness, active leisure activities (e.g., exercising, socializing, and…
Estimating Regional Technical Efficiency and Its Determinants
This paper applies a stochastic translog production function to examine the underlying causes of technical inefficiency for 28 provinces in the Chinese mainland over the period 1970-2011. We find that inefficiency was present in production and several relevant explanatory variables contributed to it. Specifically, we find that the provinces with higher level of human capital, higher engagement in international trade, a further relaxation of the h…
