Rhetorica ad Herennium
The treatise on rhetoric in four books addressed to an unidentified C. Herennius (perhaps written c.86–82 bce) is by an unknown author. Some, interpreting passages of *Quintilian, assign it to *Cornificius(1). The manuscripts' attribution to Cicero is no longer accepted, though the book seems to emerge from the same source as the contemporary De inventione. Rhetoric is treated under five traditional heads, Invention, Arrangement, Delivery, Memory…

" ... second volume ... contains an introduction and detailed commentary to accompany the Latin text and translation of the work appearing in Volume I. The introduction presents and analyses the reasons behind the work ... The commentary, linked to the Latin text, discusses problems and questions thrown up by the work, and illustrations appear throughout."--Jacket.
Quintilian: Institutio Oratoria Book 2
With Latin text and a commentary, this is an edition of Book 2 of Quintilian's 'Education of the Orator'. It gives important insights into the way teaching was conducted in a rhetorical school in Rome in the first century AD, and discusses the various elementary rhetorical exercises, one by one.

The new passage of Tiberius Claudius Donatus
Peter Marshall has done what all those concerned with manuscripts dream of doing: he has turned up a substantial lost portion of an ancient text. His discovery is related, with great modesty, in an article in Manuscripta 37 (1993), 3–20, where he prints for the first time Tiberius Claudius Donatus' commentary on Virgil, Aeneid 6.1–157, edited from a gathering written in the sixteenth century and now bound into Vaticanus Latinus 8222 ff. 2r–9v. We…
