  • Distribución Geográfica Y Temporal De Los Brotes Alimentarios Por Toxinas Bacterianas en España Entre 2015 Y 2023

  • Greening a lost world

    Open Access•José S Carrión, Gabriela Amorós et al.•ARTICLE•Quaternary Science Advances•2024•Cited by: 2•References: 37

The scarcity of pictorial reconstructions focusing on Quaternary flora and vegetation prompts a reevaluation of traditional zoocentrism in future paleoartistic research. Here we present paleoartistic renderings depicting vegetation landscapes around the Orce Archaeological Zone (OAZ), encompassing sites dating from 1.6 to 1.2 million years ago during the Early Pleistocene of the Guadix-Baza Basin in southern Spain. Four pieces are based on fossil…

  • The Late Quaternary pollen sequence of Toll Cave, a palaeontological site with evidence of human activities in northeastern Spain

  • Crossing forest thresholds

    Open Access•José S Carrión, Antonia Costa Andrade et al.•ARTICLE•The Holocene•2001•Cited by: 20•References: 11

A Holocene palaeoecological sequence from Villaverde, south-central Spain, is presented. The pollen stratigraphy is used to infer past vegetation changes within a catchment area that represents the boundary between semi-arid, plateau and mountain vegetation. From c. 9700-7530 cal. yr BP, Pinus is dominant, probably as a result of a combination of a relatively dry climate and natural fire disturbance. From c. 7530-5900 cal. yr BP, moderate invasio…

  • The distribution of cluster pine (Pinuspinaster) in Spain as derived from palaeoecological data

    Open Access•J S Carrió, C Navarro et al.•ARTICLE•The Holocene•2000•Cited by: 5•References: 3

New pollen-analytical data from the Navarrés peatbog (Valencia, eastern Spain) show a synchronous Late-Quaternary fluctuation of P. pinaster- (cluster pine) and Quercus- (oak) dominated assemblages. During glacial times, P. pinaster survived in refugia together with other trees such as Corylus, Fraxinuv Quercus, and a number of Mediterranean shrubs such as Arbutus, Erica arboreal Olea, Phyllirea, Pistacia terebinthus, Myrtus communis and Viburnum…
