    Open Access•Jiřı́svoboda, Oldřich Krejčí et al.•ARTICLE•Geoarchaeology•2019•Cited by: 8•References: 7

The formation of extensive mammoth bone deposits is a characteristic feature of the large Upper Paleolithic settlements of the Moravian Gravettian (approximately 30 ky cal BP). The aim of the paper is to present the fortification of the suburb of the early medieval central agglomeration of Mikulčice-Valy. Methodically seen, the work is based on three pillars: post-excavation analyses of old documentary materials from fieldwork (GIS, spatial analyses, stratigraphy), modern excavations focused on obtaining as many as possible exact data, and subsequent environmental analyses. Postexcavation analyses of fieldwork documenta…

  • Paleolithic hunting in a southern Moravian landscape: The case of Milovice IV, Czech Republic

    Open Access•Jiřı́svoboda, Zbigniew M Bocheńnski et al.•ARTICLE•Geoarchaeology•2011•Cited by: 27•References: 5

The Dolní Věstonice–Pavlov–Milovice area (Czech Republic) on the slopes of the Pavlov Hills provides an opportunity for correlating the geomorphology of the Dyje River valley with Gravettian settlement patterns. Although the sites vary in size and complexity, they create a regular chain of strategic locations at elevations between 200 m and 240 m asl. In 2009, a road collapsed into deserted cellars inside the village of Milovice and revealed a co…
