  • Inter-organisational communication

Open Access•Henry Mutebi, Mose Muhwezi et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of International…•2022

The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of organisational future orientation and interaction quality on inter-organisational communication, and the mediating role of inter-organisational group mechanism on the relationship between organisational future orientation, interaction quality and inter-organisational communication. A questionnaire assessing the experience of organisational future orientation, inter-organisational interacti…

  • Citizens’ Behaviour and Accountability

Poul Maxwell Ogentho, John C Munene et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of Public…•2021

The study attempts to explain the power of social capital in the association between citizens’ behaviour and accountability in local governments. This study is anchored on social capital theory because previous studies have largely used citizenship, agency and stewardship theories to explain accountability. Data relating to the predictor constructs were found to be significant predictors of accountability. Data were collected using standard close…

  • Understanding and predicting students' dishonesty

Julius Fred Kikooma, John C Munene et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Psychology in Africa•2005

In this paper we present findings from a study that was designed, based on a cheating experiment conducted to a sample of 390 university students in an examination situation. We discuss the development of a local (Ugandan) measure of attitudes towards honesty, which can be used for assessing aspects of dishonest and unreliable behaviour among individuals. We hypothesised that individuals with favourable attitudes toward theft and other forms of d…

  • Demographic Effects on the Use of Vertical Sources of Guidance by Managers in Widely Differing Cultural Contexts

    Open Access•P B Smith, Mark F Peterson et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of Cross…•2005•Cited by: 3•References: 15

Data provided by 7380 middle managers from 60 nations are used to determine whether demographic variables are correlated with managers’ reliance on vertical sources of guidance in different nations and whether these correlations differ depending on national culture characteristics. Significant effects of Hofstede’s national culture scores, age, gender, organization ownership and department function are found. After these main effects have been di…

  • Development in sub‐Saharan Africa

    Open Access•John C Munene, Shalom H Schwartz et al.•ARTICLE•Public Administration and…•2000•References: 6

We explore the relevance of national differences in values to development in sub-Saharan Africa using data from two recent global surveys. The evidence indicates a shared black African culture that emphasizes hierarchy, embeddedness and mastery in contrast to egalitarianism, autonomy and harmony, in keeping with the literature on Africa. Further evidence reveals that African managers stress reliance on formal rules and superiors in reaching decis…
