    Open Access•Juliane Prade‐Weiss, Dominik Markl et al.•ARTICLE•Memory Studies•2023•References: 9

On the one hand, the Russian regime’s claim to undertake “denazification” and prevent a “genocide” expounds the seminal role of cultural memory in politics. The weaponization of history, international law, and religion is widely accepted in Russian society and by global populisms. On …

  • The Decalogue in Deuteronomy

    Dominik Markl•CHAPTER•Oxford Handbook of Deuteronomy•2022

The Decalogue’s iconic status within its history of reception, especially in the modern era, has made it a focal point of scholarly discussion. Its transmission in both Exodus 20 and Deuteronomy 5, as well as its relation to comparative material in the Pentateuch’s legal texts, has provided an ample field of inquiry for modern historical criticism. • Moses praise and blame Israel s honour and shame

    Open Access•Dominik Markl•ARTICLE•Verbum et Ecclesia•2013

This article analyses the rhetorical devices of praise and blame employed in Moses speeches in the book of Deuteronomy. Praise and blame are mainly used in the framework of the central Law Code, Deuteronomy 1 11, 26 34. Some of the most prominent occurrences of Moses rhetoric of praise and blame form literary inclusions, in parallel (Dt 4:7; 33; 29) and contrasting (Dt 4:6; 29:24; 32:6) ways.
