  • Secular Stagnation and Income Distribution Dynamics

Open Access•David Kiefer, Ivan Mendieta‐Muñoz et al.•ARTICLE•Review of Radical Political…•2020

This paper contributes to the literature on secular stagnation by estimating a measure of potential output growth for the post-war US economy derived from a novel model specification that allows for the cyclical interactions between income distribution, represented by the trajectory of the labor share of income, and economic activity, as measured by capacity utilization. The results obtained show that potential output growth exhibits a gradual de…

  • Données inédites sur le Quaternaire et le Paléolithique du Nord de la France

    Jean-Luc Locht, Jean‐luc Locht et al.•ARTICLE•Revue archéologique de Picardie•2013•Cited by: 15

Since more than fifteen years, deep test pits and small archaeological excavations, led in rescue archaeology context, have allowed the discovery of pleistocene human occupation remains. Fifteen occupation layers have been discovered, fit in a reliable chronostratigraphical context. They can be ranger from the isotopic marine stage 14 or 13 to 2, either from 550 000 to 12 000 years before present. They enhance the dataset of the knowledges of peo…

    Mark W Fraser, Jeffrey M Jenson et al.•ARTICLE•Social Work Research•1994•Cited by: 3•References: 2

Problems such as family disruption, mental illness, child abuse, and juvenile delinquency are often conceptualized as episodic events that define the success or failure of social intervention. This article examines the methodological problems associated with the analysis of event data by comparing five alternative statistical specifications: (1) multiple regression, (2) discriminant analysis, (3) logistic regression, (4) tobit regression, and (5)…

  • The Influence of the World System on War in the Third World

    Open Access•Edward Kick, Edward L Kick et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•1987•References: 35

The authors suggest that there has been a militarisation of the Third World since the Second World War. This militarisation and consequent hostilities are a representation of the power structure of the present world system. While there may be a reduction in the direct hostilities between the superpowers this is made up for and played out in regional conflicts between Third World nations. Such conflicts are provisioned by military supplies from th…

  • The Dynamic Behavior of Public Budgets

David Kiefer•ARTICLE•The Review of Economics and…•1981

POPULAR criticism to government emphasizes a slowness of the bureaucracy to respond to changing demands for service and a slowness to curtail unnecessary services. There is a long intellectual tradition supporting the continuing taxpayer revolt. But this argument emphasizes a different kind of bureaucratic distortion: the long-run tendency of government institutions to expand services beyond the voter preferred level and to waste resources in the…

  • Housing Deterioration, Housing Codes and Rent Control

    Open Access•David Kiefer•ARTICLE•Urban Studies•1980•Cited by: 4•References: 9

The life cycle of a dwelling unit is a succession of tenants, generally proceeding to lower-income groups, and a sequence of quality levels, generally ending in a dilapidated state. The process of tenant turnover mirrors a neighbourhood turnover process which is identified as contributing to antagonism between social classes. The paper develops an optimal control model of the housing life cycle and extends this model to incorporate housing codes …
