Macro- And Microelements Distribution in Urbanized Ecosystems of Karelia
The aim was to study the distribution of macro-and microelements in the main urban ecosystems of Karelia. Methods. Samples of soil, vegetation, surface water, sediments and biota (fish) were taken. In total, 300 samples were collected. The analysis of the material was carried out using epithermal instrumental neutron activation analysis (INAA), x-ray spectral analysis (XRF), and atomic absorption spectrometry (AAS) with "cold steam" and inductive…
Distribution of Mercury in Natural and Urban Environments of Karelia, Northwest Russia
Purpose. We studied accumulation of mercury in the main natural and urban environments of Karelia, Northwest Russia, and assessed potential sources of mercury in a human body. Methods. A total of 200 samples of soil, vegetation, water, surface water, sediments and fish were collected. An analysis of samples was carried out by cold steam atomic absorption method. Diagrams of mercury distribution in soil, birch leaves and lichens were created. Data…
Intake Assessment of Small Doses of Mercury in the Human Body With Food
The aim of this work was to assess mercury content in food products and intake in the human body in Russia. Sampling was carried out on the territory of Russia without reference to the manufacturer in accordance with the principle of random sampling. The analysis of mercury concentrations in a wide range of food and agricultural products was carried out by atomic absorption with "cold vapor". On the basis of this analysis we identified foods with…
Exposure to Toxic Metals During Pregnancy and Overall Weight-Growth Characteristics of the Newborn
A human biomonitoring survey of 120 women in birth from six maternity hospitals of Moscow region was carried out on a standard methodology of the World Health Organization. Prenatal exposure to lead, cadmium, mercury and arsenic was characterized by low levels: the geometric mean for mercury in maternal hair was 0.21 |jg/g; for mercury in umbilical cord blood - 0.89 |jg/l; for mercury in maternal urine - 0.27 |jg/l, which correspond approximately…

P2-121 Heavy metals exposure and blood pressure levels of Russian children
Introduction Evidence-based data on chronic sub toxic effects of lead, nickel and cerium on blood pressure (BP) of children is insufficient. Methods The target population consisted of a stratified sample of preschool 5–7-year-old children from Gus, 132 children participated (response 80%) and 211 school children 7–10 y.o. (response 60%), residing in central district of Moscow. BP was measured in accordance with National recommendations for childr…
