  • The potential of stomata analysis in conifers to estimate presence of conifer trees

Open Access•Brigitta Ammann, Willem O Van Der Knaap et al.•ARTICLE•Vegetation History and…•2014•Cited by: 8•References: 15

  • Timing of Atmospheric Precipitation in the Zagros Mountains Inferred from a Multi-Proxy Record from Lake Mirabad, Iran

    Open Access•Lora R Stevens, Lora Stevens et al.•ARTICLE•Quaternary Research•2006

A sediment core 7.2 m long from Lake Mirabad, Iran, was examined for loss-on-ignition, mineralogy, oxygen-isotopic composition of authigenic calcite, and trace-element composition of ostracodes to complement earlier pollen and ostracode-assemblage studies. Pollen, ostracode-inferred lake level, and high Sr/Ca ratios indicate that the early Holocene (10000 to 6500 cal yr BP) was drier than the late Holocene. Low δ 18 O values during this interval …

  • Elevational gradients during the Late-Glacial/Holocene vegetational transition in southern Bulgaria

    Open Access•Vania Stefanova, Maria Lazarova et al.•ARTICLE•Vegetation History and…•2006•Cited by: 2•References: 2

  • Diatom-based conductivity reconstruction and palaeoclimatic interpretation of a 40-ka record from Lake Zeribar, Iran

    Open Access•Jeffrey A Snyder, Kazimierz Wasylik et al.•ARTICLE•The Holocene•2001•Cited by: 6•References: 4

Sediment cores from Lake Zeribar in the Zagros Mounitains of western Iran provide a record of changes in the diatom flora since about 40 ka. Conductivity transfer functionis applied to diatom records from the lake indicate generally higher conductivity during the Last Glacial Maximum and Lateglacial, especially between 15.0 and 10.5 ka. This observation is consistent with previous interpretations of relatively arid conditions during this interval…

  • Interglacial and Postglacial Climates

    Open Access•Herbert E Wright•ARTICLE•Quaternary Research•1972

Pollen studies of the four European interglacial intervals indicate a strong similarity in vegetational sequence: a pretemperate phase (I) marks the late glacial, early temperate (II) and late temperate (III) phases mark the interglacial proper, and a posttemperate phase (IV) represents the beginning of the next cold period. A grossly similar record is now known for the last interglacial (Sangamon) of central and southeastern United States. The H…
